Principal Corner
The school year is off to a great start! As we are settling in, please remember to sign up for parent access this will allow you to review your childs grades, attendance and progress at any time. You can click here for more information.
Please encourage your student to get involved in our many clubs and organizations on campus. There is something for everyone! We are making daily announcement for interest meetings in various organizations. In addition, you can encourage your student to scan the QR code on the Clubs/Organization Posters around campus.
Please encourage your student to check out a technology device. Students can bring their own device but please understand they need to bring their device charged and ready each and every day. If your student still needs to check out a device please contact their administrator for assistance.
Please join us for Hastings Open House on September 26th 6:00 to 8:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet your students teachers and find out about what each course entails. It is also a chance to explore the campus and meet your child's Administrator and Counselor. We hope that you will join us.

College and Career Center
๐Welcome to the College & Career Center ๐
Is your student puzzled about navigating life after high school?
The College & Career center is open Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:00pm and is located in the courtyard directly next to the Bookstore.
We are excited to offer students assistance with college, career, and military exploration.
Our goal is to provide assistance with completing college and scholarship applications, SAT & ACT Exam registration, understanding and applying for financial aid FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and TAFSA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid), requesting transcripts, and applying fee waivers for those that are eligible. We encourage all students to visit the center at least once a nine weeks. Please encourage your student to visit as often as possible for assistance and guidance. We look forward to meeting and working with all 10th, 11th, and 12th graders throughout the school year.

Advanced Academics & AVID
We are off to a strong start and registration is open for all Advanced Placement (AP) exams for courses in which students are enrolled. Alief covers the cost for these exams and students who a score of 3 or higher will earn college credit, accepted at schools nationwide - including all public universities in Texas! Although exams do not take place until May, students are making College Board accounts and registering now so they can access resources online and boost their learning. Students who test will confirm registration of exams by October 31.
Hastings' AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an elective class built into a student's school day schedule designed to increase the number of students who enroll and succeed in higher education and in their lives beyond high school. As campus academic leaders, we look forward to bringing awareness and information to all students to make the path to college more accessible and less intimidating! If you are interested in applying for AVID, contact Adrienne Redmon at adrienne.redmon@aliefisd.net

Everything Counts Now
Parents, it is important for students to understand the importance of high school. Once you get to high school everything counts.
- Your courses earn credits - Starting in 9th grade, the courses your child takes, the grades and credits earned, and test scores will become part of your child's permanent record.
- Attendance Matters- Attendance is important for your child's success in school. When your child is absent, please submit a note to excuse the absence within 3 school days to the Attendance Office.
- Grade Point Average - Students grades will be used to calculate your child's high school GPA. GPA is important because colleges use it to determine eligibility for financial aid programs, scholarships and other support.
Good Study Habits for Students
- Be prepared for class.
- Complete assignments thoroughly and in a timely manner.
- Review notes daily.
- Set aside quiet time to study each day.
- Stay committed and do your best.
- Students may attend tutorials.
