Swansboro Elementary
May 23, 2021
Welcome to the last week of the 2020-2021 school year!
Tomorrow we will wrap up our DanceFit fundraiser with all students participating in a Dance-a-thon in Enrichment classes. It is not too late to make a donation on Funrun.com, but tonight at midnight will be the deadline for students to receive prizes based on donations. Also, tomorrow we will announce whether or not we reached our goal of $20,000 and/or completed the 50 state challenge. If either of those things occurred, be prepared for Ms. Highsmith and Mrs. Wilsey to kiss a pig! Don't forget that Tuesday, May 25th 4th and 5th grade students will take their Reading EOG and select 3rd graders will take the RTA. Tuesday evening is Pizza Hut Spirit Night 4:00-8:00pm. Please leave your receipt and a portion of your purchase will go back to our school. On Thursday, May 27th our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will take their Math EOG. On EOG days, please make sure that students get a good nights sleep, arrive on time (by 8:15), eat a balanced breakfast and are ready to do their personal best! All 4th and 5th grade EOGs are online so please make sure that students charge their laptops and bring them to school on test days. If your child has already turned in their device, no worries, we will have it ready for them. Laptops and chargers will be collected after testing is complete on Thursday. Friday we will have our Kindergarten drive thru celebration beginning at 8:45 am. Please follow the schedule for your child's class. Also, we will beginning our 5th grade drive thru celebration at 11. Again please follow the schedule for your child's class. On Friday we do plan to send our students off with a little good luck sprinkle at car and bus dismissal. If you don't want water in your car, keep your windows up and you may want to have a towel on hand in case you pick up some wet kiddos! This is one tradition that the students always look forward to and I am so glad we get to resume this year!
We hope that you all had a chance to watch our Virtual Talent Show this weekend. It was amazing! A link is in the newsletter, so check it out! Speaking of talented and amazing, also be sure to check out our Virtual 5th Grade Art Show in our newsletter! We are so proud of our Pirates! Thank you to Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Jones for providing this opportunity to showcase our students! Congratulations also to Danielle Halberg, Sylvia Kohkemper, Alexander Bocanegra, and Jimmy Hardin for having their artwork selected to be on display at the district office. Way to go Pirates!
