There is much to celebrate across both campuses this week!
Well done to our 2021 Jack Petchey winners who we celebrated on Wednesday Evening at the Sutton Jack Petchey Digital Awards 2022. The winners included:

Reminder: School Photographer is coming next week - Sherwood Hill 4th May, Sherwood Park 5th May. Please ensure you have sent back your reply slip giving consent for your child to have their photo taken. If we do receive the reply slip we will assume you do not give consent.

In light of the potential warmer weather on the horizon it has been brought to our attention that Nivea sun cream contains Almond oil, our campuses operate a strict no nut/may contain nuts policy so this is something to be mindful of when selecting an appropriate cream.
New term dates and event schedule for both campuses can be found at the bottom of the newsletter.

Class Celebrations
Hill Campus
Lavender has had a very calm week! All students have managed to self-regulate in school and community settings. On Wednesday we took part in Wearing Blue to raise money for the National Autistic Society. Thank you for all your generous donations. Students participated in a range of drama activities to explore what makes them unique. The class also made blue jelly. Star of the Week goes to Tim for managing to self-regulate in busy community settings. Have a lovely weekend.
Indigo class have had a great week and have been learning about stick man and his different adventures. We have also been working on our writing skills and all the students have done well to engage in this weekly. A special mention this week to Wesley who went out in the community to the cafe for the first time in a number of months and had a lovely time. Well done Wes and well done to Indigo class for a fantastic week.
Teal class had a very nice week, we did enjoy wearing Blue clothes on Wednesday. Students in lower corridor participated in blue day activities our class favourite activities were decorating biscuits and messy painting. Students also created a beautiful pictures of themselves and looked at the similarities and differences between all of us.
Our stars of the week are Ritam for following instructions during music session and learning to play the drum to the rhythm and Nana for eating the toast he made for the first time in his life. Well done!
This week mint class participated in swimming lesson and we celebrated 'blue day' Autism awareness where we engaged in Lowe corridor free flow activities. Students' went into other classes and mixed with other peers making cookies, decorating fixes and feet and hands mark making.
Mint has nominated Tiger as our citizen of the term for tolerating Therapeutic Listening on the headphones and transitioning better. Well done Tiger!!
This week in Lime class we have spent time thinking about Autism Awareness Week and have enjoyed our sensory story, ‘I like myself’, where we have been celebrating our similarities as well as our differences. We also really enjoyed our wear blue day for Autism awareness and thought about all the things that make us special, decorating our own unique fish with our friends from different classes. Our celebration star this week goes to Ibrahim for sitting and attending to activities for longer periods of time. Well done everyone and have a lovely bank holiday weekend!
Olive Class have had a good week learning about things that live under the sea. We have been moving like animals and been exploring different textures. We had a fun day on Wednesday wearing blue and completing different blue activities for Autism Awareness. Our star of the week is Diya for her fantastic transitions and interactions, well done Diya. Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.
This week Lilac have been exploring their Autism and how it affects them. We have done self portraits, Autism puzzles piece art and Similarity and difference collages. The Lilac boys have all been engaged and willing to talk to their peers about Autism and have done a fantastic job. You are all amazing and Leanne is so proud of you all !
Capri class have had 2 birthdays this week with Isah on the 28th and Shaun on 30th. Shaun's mother kindly paid for Capri class to have McDonald's after our swimming on Thursday. It was yum.
Swimming was fun and the boys were very chilled and enjoyed it.
We made a giant card board 3D Elmer the Elephant and decorated it for our sensory story with colour paper, colour felt and colour tissue paper so far! :) James put it and loved being the 'elephant in the room' :)
This week we want to say a big well done to Matthew who has been regulating and transitioning well around the school.
Iris Class made mirrors as part of Autism Awareness Day which then led to discussions about how we are all different. We also made some collaborated art work using the colour blue.

This week in Marigold we would like to celebrate Ella for fantastic communication for how she is feeling! She also went 80% of the way to Asda independently in her power chair with adult support to risk assess. Well done Ella!
Orchid Class ‘Star of the Week’ is Albert, for excellent engagement during his new sensory circuit session.
Daisy Class have had a lovely week exploring our topic 'A Summer's Day. We have had a tremendous time in the discovery forest, experiencing stories about going to the beach and also creating beach sand paintings.
Daisy Class star of the week is Anisa. Anisa has worked extremely hard on her listening skills, has listened carefully to requests and has responded appropriately whilst completing her work.
Lily Class star of the week is Aychin for taking the register back to the office without grounding! Well done Aychin!
This week, Hebe class's star of the week is Sultan for attending and following instructions beautifully during our cooking session. In anticipation of 'the hungry tiger' joining us for tea, he made butter, jam and marmite sandwiches with minimal verbal prompts and was even brave enough to have a little taster of marmite. Well done Sultan.
The star of the week in Sycamore class is Jun for superstar active participation in most activities and can do attitude. Well done Jun!
Bamboo star of the week is Aaron. Aaron has embraced suggested new sessions this week such as a Class radio show. Contributing suggestions and preferences. Excellent role model to peers, providing peer support.
Freddie is flying out to L.A. tomorrow to visit Harry Potter World and catch some waves on Venice Beach. Oh, and to have some specialist physio as well…we are all wishing him a safe and successful trip, it’s a long old flight! Tracy in our group has made him some special Velcro books to make the plane flight go quicker.
