Tigerville Times
November Edition
From the Principal's Desk
Dear families,
We have so many things to celebrate at Tigerville! We had a wonderful turn out for our Fall Festival! Thank you for making this our best festival yet! As you may know, Tigerville was selected for a visit from the AdvancED Accreditation team, and our visitor could not have been more complimentary of school and students!
By now, you should have received your student’s report card. We hope you also had the opportunity to participate in your child’s Student-led Conference! Our students have been working hard, and we are sure they were excited to share their work with you!
Please remember that we have Fall Break and Thanksgiving Break quickly approaching. Fall break will be November 5th-6th, and Thanksgiving Break will be November 21st-23rd.
Thank you for all you do to support our school!
Sincerely,
D. Jackson and H. Rollison
Health Fair
Throughout this month, your child's class will be discussing health. Specifically healthy eating choices and habits. With that, we will hold our 5th annual Health Fair on November 12th, @6:00. Each class will be coming up with a healthy snack idea, in which they will then share with everyone at the Health Fair. Recipes for the snacks will also be available.
Please come join us and enjoy some healthy snacks, Monday November 12th, @6:00.
*This year there will also be a guest speaker to discuss and express the importance of bicycle safety! You won't want to miss out! We will see you there!

The Holiday Bash is coming on Dec. 3. Mark you calendars and make plans to bring your family.
Storybook Pumpkin Patch
Counselor's Corner
This November in their classroom guidance lessons, our students will be learning and practicing the good character word of ‘Gratitude’. Gratitude, or being grateful, is defined as being thankful for what you have, with a readiness to show appreciation, and return kindness. November is the perfect month to practice this good character word, especially with Thanksgiving coming up soon. Parents can encourage their children to recognize and show thankfulness – or Gratitude – for many things in their lives: friends, family, pets, a good school, a great teacher, coach, pastor, well, you get the idea. Children can write thank you notes, draw pictures, or give hugs to show their appreciation, or Gratitude. I hope you will encourage your child to show Gratitude this month.
Student Council will meet on November 13th to wrap up their Pet Food Drive. Representatives will be busy counting the tremendous number of cans and bags of dog and cat food donated in October. They will then present these items to the Greenville County Animal Care shelter, and start to plan their next project. Student Council is very grateful to all our Tigerville families who supported this project.
Parents are invited to the next ‘Coffee with the Counselor’ on November 13th at 8:30am. In addition to coffee and treats, parents will learn about Internet Safety from an ex-law enforcement expert. (this same expert will be speaking to our fifth graders about internet safety) We appreciate and are grateful for this unique opportunity. All parents need to be in the know about how to keep their children safe when using the internet – I hope you will make time to join us.

Art Room Lines
There is finally a crisp coolness in the morning air as we slide into November! Art students have recently completed their art work for Original Works. Each grade level had a unique art lesson that included art standards which featured how artists use line, shape, and design. Early in November each students will receive a packet to go home that includes their magnet and also a brochure of other products that can be purchased featuring your own child’s art work! Just in time for holiday shopping!! These one of a kind items can be ordered and your purchases will be delivered in December prior to our dismissal for the holiday break! These creative art masterpieces make excellent Christmas gifts for the students and their family members! Our Original Works sale has become a holiday tradition for many of you and don’t forget your purchases help to financially support the art department for the rest of the year. One item that seems popular is the quilt squares. Some families have started buying the quilt square each year their child is a student at Tigerville and plan to have them sewn together as a special quilt for a gift for their fifth grade year as they leave Tigerville to go on to middle school. What a wonder idea! The art club is making a collaborative mural piece to display at the Veterans Day Program along with an art exhibit featuring work from 2nd – 5th grade. The season then quickly turns to preparing Christmas ornaments for our school Christmas tree! Our wonderful adventure and outdoor school theme will also be reflected in our school tree displayed in the lobby. Each student will make an ornament for the tree! Artful opportunities are abundant as Reflections entries are also due the day before we leave for Thanksgiving break! Sherry Smith
