Well Done, Upper Elementary!
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders just completed the state MAP test! We are proud of their hard work this school year to develop their skills and challenge themselves in all content areas. Students had to show off their knowledge and skills in English Language Arts, Math, and Science. We are really proud of all of our scholars for their hard work and for their focus throughout the MAP testing experience. We are also thankful to all of our lower elementary students who kept our school running smoothly and quietly so that our older students were able to fully concentrate on the work in front of them. We know that our students love to work together and support one another!
Highlight on Reading
This week we had several students who were "caught" reading in some wonderful places around the school. In addition to all of the reading that happens every day in every single classroom, our students find the comfiest places to grab a good book and read. They also find so many great adults all throughout the school to read with!
Hey Patrick Henry Teachers! Have you requested your reading materials for next year?? Take a look at the fun treats that Early Childhood received just because they asked for it! Think about what materials you would like for Guided Reading next year and send links to Dr. Rogers from Scholastic, Lakeshore Learning, or School Specialty!
Celebrating Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, Ms. Jami's second grade students worked so hard all around the school picking up trash and making sure that litter was nowhere to be found! It is so important to keep our earth clean and healthy, and cleaning up litter is just one way to assist. Thank you to all of our students who participated in Earth Day festivities!
Highlight on Spring Planting
If you visit the Patrick Henry garden, it might look like we have very little going on, but that is definitely not the case! We have new seeds that have been planted and they are growing deep blow the surface of the garden beds. It has been so special to see our students weeding and preparing the beds, and now we will water, fertilize, and wait to see how successful our garden growth is this year. Stay tuned for growth updates!
Thank you, GGO!
Gateway to the Great Outdoors has been our community partner for many years, and this year they had an amazing time with Ms. Hammock and Ms. Ivory's classes. They just celebrated their final session together and it was so exciting to see that the seedlings have already produced growth! We cannot wait to see what happens with their growth in the coming weeks, and we are thankful to GGO for the special learning opportunities this year!
Happy Administrative Professionals' Day!
Ms. Jasmine Henderson has only been with us a few short months, but it feels like it's been much longer than that. Ms. Henderson is our school secretary and she works hard every day to provide a welcoming and professional environment in our front office. She has also discovered that she absolutely loves lunch duty, and Dr. Rogers often has to convince her to go back to the front desk duties! We were excited to celebrate Ms. Henderson on Administrative Professionals' Day this past week because we love having her on the team!
We caught you being cute!
We want to leave this week's Patrick Henry Post with some adorable moments we caught around the building. We love our students and our staff, and we have so many sweet moments that happen throughout the day. This week we were lucky enough to capture a few on camera!
