Closure Due to COVID-19 Concerns

March 18, 2020

Although there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Howell County that we are aware of at this time, we have decided to close Richards School District through Friday, April 3 for the safety of our students and staff.

Students: Effective immediately, extracurricular activities, including athletic competitions, practices and after school programs and events as well as field trips for students are cancelled. School is cancelled in both buildings at Richards. It is in difficult times like these in which we must pull together as a community and look out for one another.

Meal Service: A grab n’ go station of sack breakfasts and sack lunches will be set up in front of the school on Tuesday and Thursday of the two weeks we are out of school between the hours of 11a.m -1p.m. for any child PK-12th grade in the Richards District who needs to pick up two days worth of food. If this is an option your child will participate in please call the school at 417-256-5239 to reserve meals for the days needed.

Virtual and/or printed material-based learning opportunities. District plans will be communicated over the next week. Teachers and aides will be putting together packets of educational materials as well as educational resources beginning Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. Information will be sent out to parents on Monday detailing how those will be distributed.

As this unprecedented situation continues to evolve, additional modifications may be necessary. As decisions are made, our districts will share information through regular communication channels.

Families play an important role in protecting individuals from the spread of COVID-19 and are encouraged to follow the guidance of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Thank you for your patience and please protect your health!
