Monthly Updates on NCHS Student Services
The NCHS Student Services Department wishes you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!
What's going on in the counseling department this month?
This month we are focusing on our juniors. We began pre-registration for our juniors (rising seniors) during the week of December 7-11. The following week will be our "Junior Jumpstart" meetings where we will begin helping students navigate the college planning process and planning for their senior year. We are providing these lessons during English 3 and AP Language & Comp classes- so some students will be met with now, and others at the beginning of next semester.
Juniors should have brought home registration forms on Friday, December 4. We ask that parents look over their students course requests and sign the form. (Don't worry, students will have plenty of opportunities later to make changes. However, it is important to take this step in the process seriously since we use these numbers to make the schedule for next year!)
*We will begin the pre-registration process for underclassmen in February!
January Coffee with the Counselors: Tuesday, Jan 26 7:15 am
Join us on Tuesday, Jan 26 at 7:15 am in the Trojan Media Center for coffee and good conversations! The topic for January is NCHS extracurricular activities. We will be discussing all that NCHS has to offer (and what looks best on those college applications)! We will also discuss NCAA eligibility, so parents of athletes... this one's for you! As always, coffee will be provided by Dilworth's Coffee.
We hope to see you there!
Big News!
As of this month, NCHS seniors have earned over 3 MILLION DOLLARS in scholarships! We are so proud of our seniors!!!
December Coffee with the Counselors
What did you miss?
Our meeting on December 2nd focused on registration and helping students pick classes that are right for them. As counselors, one of the many things we helps students with is course selection. We monitor students progress and work to ensure that they are on track for graduation and are taking appropriate courses that they enjoy. That said, parent input is extremely important. Please talk with your students about which classes they are thinking of taking and offer guidance from our unique and valuable perspective!
