King Elementary Earns CDE Award
For the third year in a row, King Elementary school has received the Governor's Distinguished Improvement Award from the Colorado Department of Education. These awards are given to schools that demonstrate excellent student growth. On the school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools “exceed” expectations on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth over three years. In 2018, 105 schools earned this award.
WHS Students Qualify for National Speech Competition
Shout out to Widefield High School sophomores Casey Ringer and Taeya Andrews on qualifying for the national speech and debate competition in Dallas, TX in June! Both students also made it on the Colorado Grande World Schools Debate team. Kudos to WHS teacher Bret Elhoffer who was recognized as Assistant Coach of the Year

Music in Our Schools Month
March is Music in Our Schools Month and Widefield School District 3 is proud to have music in our schools. We believe music education is important and adds extreme value to the life our students. There are dozens of concerts and performances happening between now and the end of the year that we encourage everyone to attend.

WHS Science Team Going to State
The Widefield High School Science Club competed in the Science Olympiad at CSU Pueblo this past weekend. WHS Team A qualified for the state competition on April 27th at Cherry Creek High School. Go Glads!!

Mesa Ridge NJROTC Takes Second Place
Congratulations to the Mesa Ridge NJROTC Cadets who competed at the Fountain-Fort Carson High School drill meet this past weekend. The Grizzlies took second place overall and walked away with some individual trophies as well.

It's Building Time!
A semi trailer packed full of lumber and materials was delivered to the Manufacturing Industry Learning Lab (MiLL) on Thursday, March 7, 2019. The MiLL is a national training center that houses a manufacturing and construction program for students. Students in the Careers in Construction Colorado (CICC) program will start building a modular home that will eventually be sold in the community.
