Wofford's ALERT News
A look at the weeks ahead
So far in ALERT...
We have come so far in ALERT during the first semester!
Third graders have completed the CSI unit. They have conducted their research on the Courtroom and shared their findings in a Nearpod with the classmates. They will be going on a field study to the Richland County Courthouse in March to see a Courtroom in action. Your child has already received this field study letter, so check their folders! This study is for 3rd grade ONLY!
3rd grade has reviewed what systems are, examples of systems, the parts of a system, and generalizations we can say about all systems. They drew and labeled an aquarium system. We are moving into our environmental detectives unit, where we explore the imaginary Gray Area as a system.
Our math unit, Digging for Data, is in full swing! Your children have explored rates, discovered means, medians, and modes of a data set, displayed information gathered in a line plot, and interpreted line plots. We are moving on to using surveys and graphs to gather data and display our findings.
2nd Grade ALERT:
We have added all of our new 2nd graders to our classes! 2nd grader have been exploring our Habits of Mind, being a critical thinker, and brain stretchers. They have looked at what systems are, examples of systems, the parts of a system, and generalizations we can say about all systems. They drew and labeled an aquarium system. We are moving into our environmental detectives unit, where we explore the imaginary Gray Area as a system.
