Need to Know Info...

Body Safety Presentations: Indiana schools are required to offer Body Safety training to students in grades K-12 each year. This training teaches students how to prevent, respond to, and report situations such as bullying, cyber-bullying, abuse, or neglect. The training will be provided by Sylvia’s Place and will take place on October 14. Sylvia’s Place has provided this training to Western Boone students in the past, and continues to present valuable information for the students. If you do not want your student participate, please return the attached form.

College & Career Week: This week students will participate in lessons to get them thinking about college & careers. Keep the conversation going at home by sharing the value of getting a good education, as well as the the different types of learning opportunities available to them, such as apprenticeships, military training, and formal education. While you are out and about, talk about the different jobs you observe within our community. It is never too early to teach our kiddos to appreciate the contribution of the various roles it takes to get a job done.

Spirit Wear: PTO is offering Thorntown Elementary Spirit Wear again this year. Click here to access an order form. Please return orders and payment to school by Friday. Orders will be in before Christmas, if you are thinking ahead for gift ideas!

Masks: Students in grades 3-6 are still required to wear masks at school. Our younger students need to have a mask at school each day to wear when social distancing cannot be achieved. Please help your child remember to bring a mask to school each day. We have given out most of our surplus. If students come without a mask, we may need them to call home to have one brought to school.

Lost & Found: With the ever-changing weather, it is common for students to leave behind coats and sweatshirts at school. We collect lost and found on the bleachers in the gym. Every couple weeks, we bag it up and move it to a locker room. Please encourage your child to check lost and found for missing items. If they don't find it there, we can arrange a time to go through the inventory from the locker room; however, we will donate unclaimed items once a month in an effort to keep our inventory down. It is helpful if you can label tags in coats and backpacks so we can return lost items as we come across them. Thanks for your help.

Wrestling Club: If you have a child in grades 2-5 who might be interested in Youth Wrestling Club, please click here for more information.
