COUNSELING DEPARTMENT AND WELLNESS ROOM TOURS

This month our Advisory classes have been bringing their students to the Counseling Department and to our Wellness Room for a tour.

Our counselors are here to provide social-emotional, career and academic counseling through individual, small group and classroom guidance.

The Wellness Room is designed to be a space for students to take 5-10 minutes to reset. The students have multiple coping strategies available in the room to self-regulate their emotions and calm down. The intention is to provide a safe space for students to practice a coping skill where they choose to re-align to their best selves. The message in the mural above the Wellness room is “Know Thyself.” PSMS students are taught to know who they are, how to best practice their own mental wellness, to re-set, and then re-engage as their best selves.

The Wellness room was funded by a grant from Paytonsproject.org a non-profit that promotes mental wellness, anti-bullying, and kindness.

PWCS Wellness Fair

Please join us on Saturday, October 1, 2022 9am - 12pm at Potomac Shores Middle School for the PWCS Wellness Fair!

Attendance

As a reminder, school starts at 8:10 each day. Arrival after that time will be considered tardy. Please have your child at school on time each day. Please be aware that the cafeteria closes for breakfast at 8:10, unless the student has a bus pass. If car riders or walkers would like to purchase breakfast, they need to be in the cafeteria prior to 8:10.

If your child is absent, an absence note will be required. PWCS requires that we monitor and meet with students after accumulated unexcused/unverified absences. Click here to report an absence in ParentVue: https://potomacshoresms.pwcs.edu/our_school/report_absence
