UPDATED - Staley Quick Look Calendar
This past week our freshman participated in an Activity Fair to learn about all of the clubs/activities they have the opportunity to participate in this year. Coaches, sponsors, and students invited Freshman students to get involved and we had a great turn out! We had nearly 50 clubs and activities represented! Get your student(s) involved! Inspire out students to be part of our Staley community. Pictured here (attached) are some of the Diversity Council leaders and a glance at some of our freshman learning how to get involved. This is going to be a great year!
YEARBOOK: SENIOR TRIBUTES
Class of 2022 parents. I am the Legacy yearbook adviser, and attached is the form for senior tributes. The deadline is Oct. 28. We usually sell out of space, so the tributes are sold in the order of who has turned in their photos, written message and payment. The tributes are sold online, so please be sure to get everything uploaded to the website.
Beyond the space filling up, these tributes take some thought and effort tracking down photos and writing the message, so it might be worth starting on now. The tributes cannot be accepted in person. I have attached an examples from the last yearbook of each tribute size.
Also, if your child has not had their senior yearbook photo taken yet and does want a studio session, which also includes cap and gown photos, please contact Reed Portrait Group at 816-436-5550.
Thank you so much!
Staley High School
Freshman Falcon Mentor Program
We are so happy to have your freshman here at Staley this year! As a freshman, we understand how hard the adjustment can be from middle school. That’s why a program called the Freshman Falcon Mentor Program was created. This program gives freshman a chance to be mentored by one of our wonderful seniors their first semester of high school. The mentors are there to help your student as much or a little as needed. The senior mentors are the only class here at Staley that have had a “normal” non-covid year, so they truly understand how Staley works!
This is a great chance for your freshman to become involved, meet new people, and have someone they can trust to help them adjust. If you are interested in this program please fill out the form below!
We have a webpage with a how-to guide to operate our transportation app, MyStop. There is a transportation page on the district website that also includes FAQs. The direct link for you to access the transportation webpage: https://www.nkcschools.org/Page/5243
Food & Nutrition Services
Families are still strongly encouraged to apply for the free/reduced price meals program. This ensures discounts on a variety of other programs, including testing, activity fees and more! Apply online here.

NKCSD DISTRICT COMMUNICATION
Mask Requirement Communication on 7.29.21
NKC Schools families and staff:
Yesterday, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas issued an emergency public health order requiring masks at all times indoors. This order impacts all individuals over the age of 5, regardless of vaccination status.
As a result, beginning Monday, August 2, masks will be required for all students, staff and visitors indoors at all NKC Schools sites. This includes all individuals; those who have received the vaccine and those who have not.
If your child is currently attending one of our year-round schools, summer Adventure Club programming or other indoor activities, please plan to send them to school each day with a mask to wear indoors. A back-up mask is also highly recommended. Additionally, masks are still required on buses at all times due to a federal mandate.
NKC Schools remains in close contact with our partners at both the Clay County and Kansas City Health Departments just as we’ve been all summer. We will continue to collaborate with local health partners to determine any other changes to COVID-19 mitigation practices before the school year begins August 23. We will also continue to provide updates and regular communication to you in this time where adaptability is required. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you for your partnership and flexibility as we continue to monitor the changing situations around us and adjust our practices to best serve all students, staff and families.
We’re so excited about the start of a great school year! As we progress through these first weeks of school, the Staley Library is checking out books to as many of our Falcons as we can. Freshmen ELA classes are learning how the library works in orientation, and seniors are trying new and old stories during book tastings.
This year, the library is offering a ton of fun, informative programming. Students can sign up for Epsilon Beta, our library club, on Canvas. Epsilon Beta will continue to offer both Young Adult AND Classics book clubs, as well as gaming, service, events, and contests throughout the year.
