Principal's Message
Wishing all of our families celebrating Rosh Hashanah a wonderful holiday filled with love, family, food and friends.
This week, PSSA results were sent home to students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. If you have not seen your child's results, please check their school bags.
As part of our continued work to teach students about school safety, over the past two weeks, school district policies were reviewed using student appropriate language. These policies included bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, hazing, threats, misconduct, weapons, and non-discrimination. In addition, the sixth grade students learned about the Safe2Say resource, presented by our guidance counselor. More information on Safe2Say can be found on the district website HERE.
Enjoy the beautiful weather this long weekend!
Warm regards,
Rebecca Grimm

Council Rock School District Charity Event planned for our school
Each year Dr. Fraser selects a local charity that our school community can support in a variety of ways. This year with a focus on our students’ well-being at the forefront of our minds, he selected NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI is an association of more than 500 local affiliates who work in the community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.
To do our part in supporting this organization, MMW is going to be offering a unique fund-raising opportunity. This October, the school will be selling tickets to participate in a Duct Tape Challenge. For a small donation, student will get a length of tape on the day of our event and taping one lucky staff member against the wall. The goal, along with some good old-fashioned fun, is to have the staff member successfully hang on the wall! Please look for more information coming to you in a newsletter, email, or on the eFriday folder to share how your child can participate too.
Maureen M. Welch Elementary School to Celebrate It's 20th Anniversary
This school year is Maureen M.Welch Elementary School's 20th Anniversary! Many staff, including myself opened this building in September 2000! We have formed a committee of staff, along with a parent liaison to plan our celebration for this great milestone. Mrs. Marissa O'Neill, our PTO liaison is prepared with a binder of ideas and events that occurred for the school's 10th anniversary. We are going to need a LOT of help to create a fantastic celebration, if you are interested in helping, please reach out to Mrs. O'Neill, marissa6708@gmail.com

The Diversity and Inclusion Committee
On September 16th, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee met to establish new goals for the 2019-2020 school year! Together, the team is working to create bi-monthly bulletin boards that highlight holidays, festivals, and cultural traditions of the students in our school. These bulletin boards will be displayed in the front lobby and will also appear on our daily morning announcements.
The Committee is also working to revise a student survey in order to gather information amongst our student body that promotes diversity and inclusion.
Additionally, the team is developing a comprehensive professional development training that teaches the staff new and engaging ways to make sure our students are always safe, valued, and heard.
The committee continues to work towards our mission which is to ensure we form a community that is welcoming to all students and families by creating an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity!
Dr. Meshagae Hunte-Brown serves as the parent liaison to the committee. Please feel free to contact her should you you have questions or suggestions. She can be reached at meshagae@yahoo.com
