First Reliance Bank Offers $100,000 in Affordable Housing Grants to Eligible Florence 1 Educators
First Reliance Bank is offering $100,000 in affordable housing grants to eligible teachers and educators who work for Florence 1 Schools. Up to 13 $7,500 awards will be granted during the program time-frame through the Hometown Heroes program to assist in the revitalization and stabilization of local communities with a primary focus on encouraging home purchases by teachers.
“First Reliance Bank has access to funds for the Hometown Heroes program through grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta’s Affordable Housing Program,” said Rick Saunders, President and CEO of First Reliance Bank. “Teachers are the fabric of our community and contribute to the education of our future leaders. We think it’s important for our community bank to provide support and help educators with home ownership.”
“This partnership allows us to attract and recruit teachers to Florence 1 Schools,” said Dr. Richard O’Malley, Superintendent, Florence 1 Schools. “We’re excited to be able to offer these grant proceeds to eligible teachers.”
Eligibility of applicants is based on annual income, a $1,000 contribution towards down payment from the Fund applicant, specific Fund participation requirements determined by Florence One Schools and primary mortgage financing eligibility requirements by First Reliance Bank. The agreement begins March 16, 2020, and it terminates on the first anniversary, March 16, 2021. All applications must be submitted by September 13, 2020 as the Final Application Date.

If You Can Sew
"I have a friend who is a Vice President at McLeod and I've been asking how we can help. She sent me this information today, and I thought it may be a good thing to share with F1S employees," said Debbie Seward, Moore Intermediate Bookkeeper.
"My daughter and I are making masks for them. JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts has a pattern on its website and also has kits available for those that know how to sew," she added.
Meal Site Info (From the Desk of Mia Buck)
On Friday, March 27 Savannah Grove Elementary will have painting begun in the cafeteria. Currently, Savannah Grove has on-site meal pick-up and one bus that reports to Savannah Grove Baptist Church for lunch and dinner.
Starting March 27, the Savannah Grove staff will join with Southside Middle's staff to prepare meals for Savannah Grove's bus and on-site pick-up. The service will not change, just the location of the meal preparation.
Sneed Middle and Southside Middle will stop on-site meal preparation on Monday, March 29. Instead, the locations will be Savannah Grove Elementary and Sneed Middle School. We will have buses with pick-up meals in the parking lot of each location.
If you have any questions or concerns about the meals, please call me, Mia Buck at 843-673-1123. As always thank you for your continued support.
