Girls Exploring Trades and Technologies Program
One of our favourite programs is the annual Girls Exploring Trades & Technologies (GETT) Conference that is held in conjunction with the Provincial Skills Canada Competition. Rest assured, we’ll still be providing an avenue for young women to explore their passions and interests! SkillsXibition—taking place May 11 and 12, 2021—will include sessions hosted by leading female experts in various trade and technology industries. The sessions will highlight the endless opportunities available to young women in Alberta. A full schedule of GETT-focused sessions will be posted online. Registration opens March 24.
High School Youth Researcher Summer Program (HYRS)
The University of Alberta invites Grade 11 students to apply for the High school Youth Researcher Program (HYRS). The purpose of the program is to provide students with hands-on experience in biomedical and health-related research. This is a paid summer position and successful applicants, aside from academic achievement, demonstrate scientific curiosity and aptitude for research. Visit Student Services or contact Mrs. Boake at ann.boake@eips.ca for information about how to apply. The deadline is May 1, 2021.
