Brooker Creek Elementary
Home of the Bobcats
Hello Brooker Creek Families,
I am excited to reach out and welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. I trust that everyone has had a wonderful summer and you are getting ready to kick-off a fantastic school year. Teachers will be reporting to campus on Monday, August 2nd to get ready to students welcome back on Wednesday, August 11th. Over the next couple of weeks we will be busy planning and preparing for our Bobcats to be back at school.
Our community has been a buzz with news of teacher assignments being visible. Please know that changes will be happening over the next week as we balance the list with new students joining our community. You will need your parent portal username and password to sign in to Focus to see your child's teacher assignment on FRIDAY, AUGUST 6TH. If you need help with your log-in information, please email Jennifer Jajuga at jajugaj@pcsb.org Teacher assignments are final unless we need to make adjustments per class size mandates. A great deal of work is done to build class lists using a variety of factors while also ensuring classes are balanced.
Lastly, 3rd- 5th grade FSA scores were released by the state today. The scores should be visible in Focus on Monday, August 2nd. Student reports are being shipped to the schools and will be sent home with students as soon as possible.
I will be communicating information about opening processes and procedures as the school year approaches. Please make sure to keep an eye out for our News from School email.
Sincerely,
Jenn Mekler, Principal
Health and Wellness Update
Since March 2020, Pinellas County Schools has successfully followed the health and wellness recommendations of our Medical Advisory Group and the Pinellas County Department of Health. The district has modified protocols as conditions and information changed and will continue to seek and follow sound medical advice.
Pinellas County Schools is committed to providing high-quality instruction and enrichment opportunities for all students, while also maintaining wellness protocols for students and staff. The district anticipates that as the community continues to return to pre-pandemic conditions, that the processes below will also guide the school district’s return to pre-pandemic operations. Any updates will be communicated to all stakeholders.
More information can be found on the district website COVID-19 Info / Guiding Practices and Protocols (pcsb.org) or in the document below.
First Day of School
We are excited to welcome our families onto our campus for the first day of school drop off. The campus will be busy and it is imperative that our car line isn't block so that families that choose to drop off in the carline are able to do so.
- Parents will be able to walk their child to the classroom on the first day of school only. Face coverings are recommended.
- Beginning on Thursday, August 12, parents will not be permitted to walk students to class. We will have plenty of staff during the first weeks of school to help students find their classrooms.
- PLEASE BE SURE YOUR CHILD KNOWS HOW HE/SHE WILL BE GETTING HOME FROM SCHOOL EACH DAY!!! START THIS WAY OF WORK ON DAY #1. If your child is a bus rider, have him/her ride the bus. This prevents confusion later and sets routines in place from the start.

Meet the Teacher
Meet the Teacher is a time for students to visit their classrooms, meet their teacher(s), and drop of any school supplies. We hope this will ease any first day jitters and provide time for students to learn where their new classroom is located. Classrooms will only be open during the times listed so feel free to pop-in anytime during the hour window.
