KRMS Principal Update

Parent Update

After classes today, Wednesday, December 23, 2020 students will be on Christmas Recess. All KRMS Students will begin classes on Monday, January 4, 2021. Due to the December school board meeting, all hybrid students will be shifting to virtual learning, until at least Friday, January 15th (given there are no further changes to this model from the school board). The schedule for this has been included in all previous newsletters. It is attached below for your reference if you may need it.

Please note this is a schedule change for only our hybrid students. This change will be a 5 day a week schedule. Students are expected to be logged in for their classes each day for instruction and attendance purposes. Your child has received their individual schedule. If they don't have it or you would also like a copy, please reach out to your child's team leader.

For our hybrid students, this will be the first time in over 9 months that they will be responsible for attending class 5 days a week. Any assistance that families can provide in helping your child with a consistent routine and making sure your child is getting an appropriate amount of sleep would be greatly appreciated. As with all new models, I'm sure there will be glitches and it won't necessarily be "perfect." I appreciate your patience, communication, and support in making the most of our virtual learning during this time. I will be in the building and accessible if parents or students need to reach me. I look forward to seeing our students back in school soon.

I wish everyone a wonderful and safe holiday season. If you are in need of support during the holiday season, including the vacation, please be sure to reach out to me. Thank you for your continued support. We know we have a lot of work left to do this year and your children are our priority.

Happy New Year,

James A. Reilly

GWRSD Chromebooks - Technology Assistance

For hybrid students that need a computer at home, we are requesting that your child brings their computer home and to school daily. If in the event that we are not back in school due to a closure, your child would be expected to participate in their education remotely. The Chromebook is an essential tool for 21st century learners and your assistance in helping your child create a routine to bring it back to school and bring it home daily is greatly appreciated.

For technology assistance or support a great GWRSD site to visit is:

Schedule for Hybrid Virtual Learning.

Team Galaxy (Remote) already has a schedule and would not change their schedule and it would be business as usual.

For our hybrid teams, it is a little more complicated. We will be using the schedule below for ALL students that are moving from hybrid to our Virtual learning due to the December 2020 school board meeting. This is a 5 day a week schedule for all students.

Once we are back to the hybrid (in-school) model and if school is closed for another reason, this will also be the schedule so students can access their instruction, including snow days. In these situations, and for the majority of situations, we will finish the week as the schedule would have been if the children were in school, then the following week (if the closure is longer than 6 days), all students would be online 5 days a week (full-days, with Wednesday still a 1/2 day). Below is the attached schedule that students would be expected to follow (logged in for live instruction) if we are out of the building for these types of situations.

Attendance during this time is essential and since we most likely can not predict if school will close, students are being requested to take Chromebooks back and forth every day.
