The Hoover Hotline
e-Learning Edition
A WONDERFUL YEAR AND A BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD!
REFLECTION
Dear Students and Parents,
Who among us could have ever imagined back in August, when we were taking our first day of school pictures, that the traditional school year would suddenly come to a halt and that the world would look entirely different by spring due to a pandemic? Students and parents quickly adjusted to learning at home, teachers developed new ways to connect with students remotely, and Zoom is now as familiar to many as Coca-Cola.
While our school year ended without some of our usual traditions, we were all able to embark on this amazing new adventure together. We are living history and years from now it will be our voices and stories of triumph that students will hear echoing from their history books.
I look forward to greeting our current 4th graders back to school in the fall, as well as, welcoming the incoming class of third graders from Nicholson Elementary to Hoover.
As for our fifth graders, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts as the class that we sent off to middle school without being able to say our usual good-byes. This year we are starting a new tradition with a different version of our 5th Grade Farewell. You are an amazing group of students and the teachers and staff at Hoover wish you the best of luck at middle school. Your futures are bright!
Sincerely,
Marci Galinowski, Principal

STUDENT ITEM PICK-UP & RETURN PROCESS
All Crawfordsville School Buildings will return student belongings and collect school items beginning Tuesday, May 19th. See the table below for times and dates for your buildings. We have worked with the Montgomery County Health Department and followed guidance from the CDC and Indiana Department of Education for our item pick-up and drop-off process. We have considered the best way to minimize the risk of potential virus spread by having students/parents exchange items from their cars through designated parking lot areas.
LOCATIONS
Willson, Nicholson, CMS, and CHS* will use normal car drop off locations.
Hose will exchange items from the back parking lot.
Hoover will exchange items from the parking lot next to the gym.
ITEMS
Students will receive items from the classrooms or lockers and athletic lockers.
Nurses will contact parents about the return of student medications.
Seniors may purchase cap and gowns on Tuesday, May 19th from Jostens in the exchange process.
Please return textbooks and checked-out laptops and chargers.
Contact your building with any questions on the exchange process.
GUIDELINES
Anyone that has symptoms (fever, cough, etc.) or is quarantined for any reason associated with COVID-19 should contact the school administration to arrange a later time for item exchange.
Face coverings will be worn by all staff members
We ask that face coverings are worn by students/parents that are exchanging items.

NOTES FROM THE NURSE
Happy Summer Break Hoover Tigers!
Thank you for a wonderful first year as your school nurse! 5th graders- I will miss you and good luck in Middle School, you will love your new school nurse, Mrs Bales.
4th graders- I will see you in the fall and can’t wait for a another great school year with you!
Just a few things to be thinking about over the summer:
5th grade student will be due for booster shots prior to entering the middle school. Students are required by law to have the HepA (2 doses spread out by 6 months), Tdap, and Meningitis, before they begin the 6th grade. HPV is an optional vaccination for all as well.
If your child has appointments over the summer with specialists for allergies, asthma, seizures, diabetes, or other medical conditions, it would save you time and trouble if you go ahead and have the doctor fill out the forms that are needed by the school nurse.
All students who will routinely take medication at school MUST have a doctor’s order and signature every school year.
Go to: www.cville.k12.in.us and click “Services” and then choose “CCSC Health Services” and then “Health Forms.”
Parents please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email with any questions.
Be safe! Wear your sunscreen! Have a fabulous summer!
Sincerely,
Sabrina Gatlin BSN, RN
