CARES Connection Newsletter
April 23, 2021
Dear Cardinal Heights Students & Families,
We are excited to take one step closer to having all students back by starting in person school for students to attend 4 days on Monday. Please remind your students that they still need to wear their mask, socially distance, and wash or sanitize their hands frequently.
Lunch is still restricted as a non-social time; students will be expected to stay in their seats for the duration of our now 40 minute lunches.
Thank you for your cooperation in making 4 days a week successful for all students!
Sarah
Here are the latest updates:
New Bell Schedule starting 4/26. Please click here for the new schedule. The Key Differences from previous schedule include:
Lunch is 10 minutes longer (40 minutes total) for each grade level -- this time is taken out of resource (which is now 15 minutes)
4th and 5th hours have different start and end times.
Forward/Aspire Update:
Virtual Parents Only: Additional information about Forward and Aspire testing on April 28th will be coming soon, including transportation, if you requested that. Please watch your email next week for this information.Students Get to Choose New Sun Prairie Park Name
The City of Sun Prairie is in the process of naming the new park, currently referred to as "The Reserve Park" in the Reserve subdivision near Token Springs Elementary School. In early 2020, the Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission worked with Sun Prairie Community Schools to gather student suggestions for park names. A list of 12 park names was then pared down to 4 by the Commission.
The Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission is now seeking input from all SPASD students to provide their feedback in naming the park. The new park's name will be announced by the end of May. Please share this link - all students need to vote by Friday, April 30. This is an easy & fun way for students to civically engage in their community! Student Drop off/Pick up: For student safety we are asking that anyone dropping off their students only do so in the designated drop off / pick up area. The area is currently marked with signs and cones for your convenience. Please create enough space for vehicles behind you to pull forward into the pickup/ dropoff area. Remember, Door 10 is a lesser used drop off/pick up location that is especially more convenient for 8th grade students.
Ongoing Reminders:
Summer Internship Opportunity for students: What are some ways my students can excel in the workplace and have real world experience?? If you have asked yourself this and want your student to have a positive first job experience, then REACH may be the perfect summer opportunity for you and your student.
REACH is a 7 week long summer internship that allows your student to intern at places such as UW Health, SP EMS, SP Police Dept. and many more and get paid $10/hour. Students who are 14 years old or older are able to apply and get paid to work at these amazing places! If you have any questions or would like to know more, please reach out to Katy Johnson at kljohns@sunprairieschools.orgHealth Office Update: If a student becomes ill at school, they should see the nurse before going home. If a student texts their parent/guardian that they are not feeling well, the parent/guardian should advise their child to go to the nurse. Please know that if you come to pick up your student who is ill our office staff will notify the health office and your student will need to see the nurse prior to leaving. It is easier if the student sees the nurse directly. Thank you for your cooperation.
Quarter 4 Material Pick Up: If you missed 4th quarter material pick up for your virtual student, please call the main office at 318-8024 to arrange a pick-up time.
Due to COVID, we cannot accept food deliveries for students. Please do not order food to be delivered or bring food for students as we cannot accept it and you will be turned away. Students have access to lunch here and can bring a lunch from home to eat during lunch time.
