News from Glacier Peak
September 10, 2021
Dear Glacier Peak Families,
Well, we are off and moving into September already. I would like to thank our community for a great start to our school year. It is so refreshing to be able to start the school year in person resuming "normal" activities. I am thankful to be amongst families that continue to follow the health and safety guidelines and we ask that you continue to do that so that each student can enjoy in-person learning as safely as possible this school year. We value your partnership.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for helping out with the Hug n Go (Drop off and pick up loop). Traffic has been improving and we have been able to get the students in the building and safely reunited with parents and families at the end of the day. I appreciate everyone doing their best to follow directions, pulling all the way forward in the lane, and remaining in their cars while students get out on the passenger side. We have had a lot of new students since the start of the school year, so please see the map later in this newsletter for additional clarification. Look for a video coming soon. Thank you.
In the next few weeks, our PEAK Partnership PTO will be kicking off our annual Glacier Peak Sneak and Carnival. For those of you that are new to GPE, the Sneak and Carnival are both a check writing campaign and a community celebration. Last year, we did not have the Sneak or Carnival due to Covid. We also didn’t think asking for money during a pandemic was the right approach. We decided YEARS ago that we didn’t want students selling door to door and an outside company taking a portion of the profits, so our PTO board decided to create the Sneak and Carnival. The sneak will be our only large fundraiser for the entire year. Please support our PTO as much as you are able to - we know COVID has affected each family differently. PTO purchases items for teachers, such as classroom rugs, pencil sharpeners, student incentive prizes, staff incitive prizes, and website subscriptions. PTO also provides funding for field trips, extracurricular programs, and assemblies. They cannot provide this without the support from our community - thank you for your continued generous support, it is greatly appreciated!
The is more information included below. You will receive the Seak and Carnival packet by next Wednesday 9/15. Inside the packet, you will receive info regarding the money being raised and how it will be spent, as well as info regarding the Carnival. We can’t wait to see everyone on Friday, 10/1/21, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. for the Sneak and Carnival.
I would like to take this time to remind students and families to make sure students bring a refillable water bottle. We can’t use water fountains here at school due to Covid, but we can use our water bottle filling station located in the main hall.
Finally, Glacier Peak has several ways that we communicate with families. Our official messaging system emails the primary email that is in Infinite Campus. This message system is the way we send out important building announcements and updates. We also use ClassTag and the Glacier Peak Facebook Page to send out reminders, helpful hints, etc. ClassTag is a free app or website, this is the best way to communicate directly with your teacher. Please let your child’s teacher if you don’t have an account. The Glacier Peak Facebook page is great for reminders and other pieces of information that may be of importance to you.
Respectfully,
Tim Griffin, Principal

Quarantines at Glacier Peak
Adams 12 / Glacier Peak Dress Code
As the weather has been extremely hot, here are some quick reminders regarding our Adams 12 dress code.:
- No clothing may be worn that will show a student’s belly
- Shorts must not be shorter than the length of the student’s arm and hand while hands are down the side of the body (it’s a good measuring tool)
- No hats in the building, but they may be worn outside
Soft Start Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
School doors will open at 7:50 am. The official start of school is at 8:05 am, any student arriving after 8:05 am will be considered “tardy.”
Students’ days will end at 3:00 pm except for early release Wednesdays when school lets out at 1:45 pm.
Here are a few reminders for our families:
- We love pets but unfortunately, district policy prohibits pets on campus.
- For drop-off in the morning, we open the doors at 7:50. Please try not to arrive too early as we don't have supervision out and we are trying to limit crowds as much as we can. For morning drop-off on the intermediate side, please use the loop to drop off students on the sidewalk side. Please do not drop your student in parking lot to access the building! This is not safe as cars are moving out of the loop and do not anticipate students crossing in the drop-off lane.
- If using the loop on the primary side or on the intermediate side PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE. We have staff members that will get your child from the correct classroom line and to your vehicle.
- Students will never be let out before 3:00 PM. We promise we will watch and take care of the little Grizzlies until you arrive. Please plan to arrive from 3:01 - 3:15. Thank you!
Below is a map of drop-off/pick-up locations and traffic procedures.
