Weekly Message
During this season of sub shortages, I have gotten to step outside my comfort zone a little to fill in some various roles. AGS I was probably the toughest for me because I knew none of the answers! However, because I was able to do these different roles throughout the school, I found my bright spot for the week. It is this: each one of us is integral to the running of this fantastic school. There is not one person who is not missed when they are gone. In case I don't get a chance to say it to you personally, thank you so much for how you improve the lives of students each and every day! Have a great last week before the break and remember, your students love you!
Middle school is designating this week Spirit Week. You and your classes can show your school PRIDE by dressing the part on each day! For elementary the schedule is:
Monday - Neon Day
Tuesday - Sportswear Day
Wednesday - Mis-Match Day
Thursday - RHS Day
Friday - Pajama Day
For Middle School the schedule is:
Monday-neon (pick 70’s or 80’s if don’t want to wear neon)
Tuesday-Sportswear (wear a sports team outfit)
Wednesday- Twin day (Twin with someone)
Thursday- Mono-chrome day (wear one color head to toe)
Friday-Pajama day (wear pajamas)
Warm regards,
Jennifer

Leadership Minutes
- K-8 Update - we have 52 students enrolled for 6th grade next year
- ELD Program Model Change - we are moving to an integrated model
New Committee - Attendance/Community Engagement all are welcome
Changes to ordering of office supplies
Please read the minutes and see your leadership rep for questions.
Safety Committee Updates
- During an earthquake, we should evacuate the school. We talked about this at a staff meeting in the past. Just sending a reminder. We would have about 90 seconds warning. Our last fire drill was an amazingly fast 1:56. We're getting closer to our goal.
- The second round of inside door locks are coming soon. District is still not locking offices, but in our school two great changes are coming that would provide a perimeter for almost every student and staff member. Gym doors, Jane's door, the cafeteria, staff room and library are all getting either inside locks or panic locks similar to the portables. This would protect all the areas where students congregate and the upstairs offices.
- As we approach Winter Break, our warm and unoccupied buildings can be a welcome environment for unwanted pests…especially if we leave treats. Please read the attached link and follow these appropriate procedures for “Pest-Proofing” before the upcoming break.
School Board Meeting Adjustments
The Beaverton School Board will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, December 16, 2019. Please see the agenda for details and note the adjustments in public participation. The Board will reserve 45 minutes for public comment at 6:55 p.m. If necessary, there will be 15 minutes set aside for additional public comment at the end of the meeting. This change has been made to honor the Board’s longstanding commitment to ample public participation, while balancing the need to conduct the business of the School Board.
In addition to public participation time during Board meetings, the Board is committed to engaging members of the community on an ongoing basis regarding community values about education during times other than the Board’s regular meetings. Visit the School Board webpage to learn more about how to contact Board members.
