Public domain
Work that isn't protected by copyright because:
- the copyright has expired
-the work was created using public money
-the creator donated the work to the public
Example: an old book
Freeware
Copyrighted work that you can copy, use, or give away for free
Example: iTunes, Internet Explorer
Shareware
Copyrighted work that you can copy, use, or share for free for a limited time. If you want the full or permanent program, you must pay for it.
Example: WinZip
All Rights Reserved
Allows the purchaser to use software according to details spelled out in a license agreement.
Example: Pages
Open Source
Software that includes the source code when downloaded
Example: Firefox
