From Mrs. Harmon
National School Counseling Week 2016
From my desk to you
This is not an informational newsletter, nor it is one to RSVP to any event. This is a simple Thank you--for entrusting your children to Saint Joseph High School.
This week, February 1-5 is not only Catholic School's Week around the country but it is also National School Counseling Week. As the only school counselor, at some point, your son or daughter will cross my path. I have spent time on retreats, in study halls, during workshops, and even covering classes getting to know each of them. And I value that time I have because as much as I try to "teach" them, I have learned just as much from these students.
At the beginning of the school year, I had card made up with information on for parents of students, and I am going to add a little bit of it here:
I AM . . .
a shoulder to lean on
a voice to inspire
an ear to listen
a hand to hold
a heart to care
And, I work with students to help them succeed within academics, but also ways to handle stress and conflicts, communication skills, learning strategies, coping skills, developing career and future plans.
Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, or even help with a "next step".
I am happy to be celebrating National School Counseling Week 2016 here at Saint Joseph High School.
Sincerely and God Bless,
Mrs. Christine Harmon
