Happy Friday!

Hi everyone,

We have one last short, quiet week ahead. Grade 3 EQAO starts on Tuesday and we will end the week with a PA Day on Friday. Thank you so much to all of you for your help and support with Grade 6 EQAO this week.

You might call this "the calm before the storm". Lauren and I sat down on Thursday afternoon to look at the June calendar and it is FULL. Fasten your seatbelts - June is going to be a busy (but fun!) month.

Tech Notes

Brad Stanistreet was in this week and wanted me to remind everyone that Point of Instruction computers belong in the classroom. Please do not unplug them and take them to the staff room, as this is hard on the connectors and makes it much more likely that something will get damaged or that your setup will no longer work properly when you try to plug it all back in. Also, your prep teacher needs to have access to the classroom computer when they come in for your prep time, so please leave it there for them to use.

Caroline and I have put two computers in the Teacher Workroom for you to use during your prep. These are not just for prep teachers to use, but for the whole staff. You do not have to log the previous person out. Just click on "Switch User" and then log in. Let me know if you need help with this and I will be happy to show you how! If two computers are not enough in the workroom, let us know and we will look at putting another one in there.

A few teachers have asked about how they can play DVDs now that the computers no longer have DVD drives in them. Good news! Brad gave us a portable optical drive that can be plugged into any of the laptops. There is only one, but I'm sure we can all share it. I will keep it in my office, so just let me know if you need it.

Report Card Reminders

  • We have a PA Day on Friday, May 31st to work on report cards.
  • Be sure to include the IEP comment where necessary in your comment boxes and to check off the IEP box when students have modifications to their programming.
  • Remember to check off "N/A" for subjects that you did not teach this term.
  • Don't forget to spell check your work when you are finished!
  • Reports are due to the office at 8:00am on Monday, June 10th. They will be printed that morning.
  • Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, June 25th.
  • As you know, it is very stressful to be getting report cards ready at the last possible minute. Please ensure that all your corrections are done by Wednesday, June 19th so that we have sufficient time to reprint, sign, photocopy and put them into envelopes on Friday, June 21st. That way we can all enjoy the final weekend before the last week of school and avoid any undue pressure in the final few days of school.

Great stuff

Here are some photos of great things happening around the school this week. Don't be shy about texting me your own photos to include in these weekly newsletters. (Lots of people do!). I can't always get around to see everything, but I love to share what is happening in your classrooms.
