The Hard Work Is Paying Off!

Great Job Panthers!

I hope everyone had a restful weekend and are ready for another important academic week. I am so excited to be able say that we are able to actually post an athletic calendar for this week for real athletic competitions!. We cannot wait to get out there a support our students. All of the hard work with following safety protocols, social distancing and wearing masks are paying off. The county continues to show data backing up all of the hard work. I posted the most recent metrics from the county below, and we are expected to see even better numbers that could possibly allow contact sports (football and water polo) to begin competitions very soon!

We can't let up now. Stay focused on the goals! Stay focused on the safety protocols! Stay focused on looking out for each other! The more we work together, the more opportunities we are creating for our students!

Athletics Update

As we get more positive data from the county and the state, we are constantly getting updated guidelines for athletics. You can read the update below for athletics as well as continue to monitor our athletics website.

Progress Report Grades

Midterm 3 grades are posted on Q Connect now. Check your child's grade and contact their teacher with any questions before reaching out to a counselor. This is NOT a permanent grade. The transcript grade for term block classes will occurs when Quarter 3 ends on March 26th.

Class of 2021 Updated Information

A letter was sent to both students and parents of the Class of 2021 updating events and activities that are taking place. I have attached a copy of that letter at the bottom of my weekly message. We are working on other events and ideas to help celebrate the Class of 2021. Also, information on how members of the Class of 2021 can audition to either speak or perform for graduation is coming out soon along with other important reminders.

Keep Staying The Course!

As a constant reminder, it is important that we work together so that all students are successful and have the support they need to maximize the time and content being provided to all students. Please remember the following:

  1. Students should be building a daily academic routine, as part of an overall time management plan.
  2. Students should be taking advantage of new learning center times for individual tutoring overseen by our NPHS teaching staff. Students can access the zoom links and times by clicking on the Twilight Academy Course Card on their CANVAS page.
  3. If students need a quiet place to work, our cafeteria is available for both cohorts.
  4. Students should be using the reinforcement time to stay on top and ahead of all work.
  5. Students can email Mr. Lepire if they need access to the course card.
  6. Students should be communicating with their teachers on a consistent basis with any questions, support needed, or access to content.
  7. We always recommend that students and parents should start with the teacher for questions related to courses students are taking

There is a lot of important information and updates in this newsletter, as well as upcoming newsletters. Please take the time to review the information and reach out to us with any questions. Happy Sunday! Have A Great Week!

WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER!

Mindful March

Let's take the time to pause, breathe and really take in what's all around us. This month we're encouraging you to take some time to look within. Learning to be more mindful and aware can do wonders for our well-being in all areas of life - like the way we eat, the things we notice, or our relationships. It helps us get in tune with our feelings and stops us dwelling on the past or worrying about the future - so we get more out of the day-to-day. It can also help us identify what we're grateful for, which has been proven to help boost your happiness levels!

Last Chance To Order Yearbooks

Have you bought your NPHS 2020-2021 yearbook yet? If not, now is the time to do so! Although we have had a very different school year, we have managed to take and collect some amazing photos of our Panther students. We have cool features on a variety of topics, highlighting unique experiences our students have had this year. Since music is always available and something everyone can connect to in some way, even in a pandemic, we have made that the theme of our book. Purchase a yearbook and you too will have access to the Newbury Park 2020-2021 “Quarantunes” playlist.

So, the deadline to preorder your 2020-2021 NPHS Yearbook is MARCH 1st! Don’t miss out and click HERE to ensure your copy!

If you are not sure you have purchased a yearbook, please e-mail Michelle in the Student Store at mduquette@conejousd.org

Athletics Update

Cross Country & Tennis will compete this week! Other sports starting SOON!

For a list of coaches' emails, go to https://nphsathletics.org/coach-contact-info/.

CVUSD schools follow VC Dept Health guidelines. VCPH will allow “Purple Tier” sports (cross country, track & field, golf, tennis, swimming) to hold multiteam competition, following all CDPH guidelines, however, all teams must be from Ventura County. This will be re-evaluated as our case rate decreases and the case rate in neighboring counties decreases. Please go to nphsathletics.org for a more thorough explanation and links to guidance documents.

Tryouts - Students MUST have their physical and athletic clearance before trying out. Go to https://nphsathletics.org/athletic-clearance/ for instructions.

Please check nphsathletics.org for next round of tryouts or contact the head coach HERE.

New Head Coaches Track & Field - Ahmad Rasheed

Competitive Sport Cheer (aka STUNT) - Kassondra Landry

Boys Basketball - Head coach has been selected is in process of being approved by the Board.
