The Weekly GRIND!
Va Grind Elite Team Updates (Week of March 21)
Message from Coach Reed: The Journey is the Success!
Thanks for the time and support at this past weekend's tournament in Baltimore. We won one and lost two and as always, took some things away that we can build on and work on to improve. Our boys played through a court that had zero grip - a nightmare for a basketball player! Also, we didn't learn until Thursday that not enough 7th grade teams entered the tournament, which led to a combined 13U and 14U division for us.
This definitely affected our boys and I know it was tough for them. The coaches were tough on them (maybe a bit too much) as the conditions impacted their confidence when playing this weekend. Note that we will use practice time on Tuesday to reiterate our appreciation for the boys' effort in practice and how we will all remain positive when challenges arise. Everyone was down a bit, but we know they were out there trying hard!..and we are proud of that!
Please take some time to review this week's edition of the GRIND Weekly newsletter for important team updates.
Let's go GRIND!
Coach Reed
Team Updates - Week of March 14th
PRACTICE SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
- Tuesday, March 22nd - 7:00 - 8:30 (Location: Ball-Istic Sports & Training Center)

APRIL 1- 3 TOURNAMENT PAYMENT!
No rest for the weary! The GRIND's journey continues with our first trip to the famous Boo Williams Sportscomplex in Hampton, Virginia, a national AAU landmark that is said to be the Mecca of AAU basketball. This tournament is "super regional" tournament where winners qualify for national and will be a good test for our boys. This tournamentwill be stricter in terms of divisions being equal. Having said that, we can expect some solid 7th grade teams that will require us to "bring it". We believe in our boys and we will have them ready!
AAU MEMBERSHIP (IMPORTANT!) - Given that this is a nationally sponsored AAU tournament, every player MUST be officially registered as an aau member. If you have not done so, please do so ASAP. Once you do, every family should send to me each player's AAU membership #. This is needed to confirm our roster for the tournament in the national database. If you have not registered your player as an aau member, please do so here:
COST: Cost for this tournament is $35 per player. Paypal invoice will be sent this week. You can also pay via cash or check at Tuesday's practice this week. Payments due by 3/25
HOTEL: Will plan for a group hotel for this overnight tournament. Stay tuned for details so we can have the players stay together.
PLAYER I.D. CARDS
It is a MUST that we bring our team book with player IDs for the Hampton Tournament. If you have not yet submitted your player's ID to Tara Houston, please do so ASAP.
