Marsh MS
Seventy two advanced LCC cadets ran a food and clothing drive during the months of February and January (and part of March). Cadets passed out fliers in their neighborhood and posted signs throughout the school to spread the word. Folks from the Marsh community generously brought in their gently used clothes, shoes, toys, and books. All in all, we collected over 25 XL heavy-duty black bags! Cadets worked after school, as part of Thriving Minds, to sort, fold, organize, and box/bag all donated items before their day of service at North Dallas Shared Ministries (NDSM).
On Thursday, March 31 ,2016, fifteen 8th grade LCC leaders went to NDSM to finalize our community service project. They spent 3 hours after school unpacking donations, placing items on the store floor, stocking shelves with canned food, and organizing the thrift store. LCC chooses to serve at NDSM because NDSM directly serves our community. Executive director, Ms. Judy Rorrie always takes the time to thank the cadets and let them know what an impact they are making. This 16 year-old partnership is truly a blessing!
WE ARE GRATEFUL TO ALL TEACHERS, STAFF, PARENTS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO DONATED ITEMS TO THIS WONDERFUL CAUSE. Thank you for joining us and making a difference. Let's do it again next year!
