News from Principal W. Spells
February has arrived and we are looking forward to celebrating the many activities occurring this month. For Black History month we will recognize all contributions big or small.
Some questions to ponder....
Will the Groundhog see its' shadow on 2/2?

Will you come out to visit our Preschool Open House on one of the following dates: 2/24, 3/14 or 3/25? Schedule of times are posted on the school website.
Who will be your Valentine this month? Choose wisely and be positive.
Flash News
Chinese New Year will be celebrated on Friday, 2/3. Students will parade inside the school, both AM and PM session.
The front lobby bulletin board displays Black History month which was decorated by the teacher, Mrs. S. Rocco and instructional assistants, Mrs. L. Brown & Mrs. C. Incorvaia. It is a wonderful display of students written quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. All of our students and staff participated in this school wide project. This project is well done, thanks to all the staff!!
Mrs. E. Carey's class cooked fried rice with the help of instructional assistants Mrs. J. Kruzik and Mrs. S. Panicker for the Chinese New Year celebration.
The Cat in the Hat will visit our Preschool on 2/10 at 12:30PM. AM parents are welcome to join us with your child to see the performance.
CP/PTO - Friendship Dance will take place on Friday, 2/10 starting at 6PM. Zoom the Clown will perform.
Mrs. Elizabeth Carey will be out on maternity leave from March 1st through June 9th. Ms. Christine Digeronimo will be Mrs. Carey's replacement during her absence. A letter will be sent home the week of February 20th, to the students' parents in Mrs. Carey's class informing them of the change.

Preschool registration for the 2017-2018 will be posted in the near future. A reminder will go home with students who are currently enrolled in the program by the end of the month.

Child Care Development Lab
Matawan-Aberdeen High School students from the Child-Care Program are working with our Pre-School and PAWS students everyday in the morning and afternoon sessions.

Message from our Nurse
Parents please note the following: According to the New Jersey Administrative Code, children in Pre-school programs are required to receive a seasonal flu shot. N.J.A.C. 8:57-4.19, specifically states:
Children six months through 59 months of age attending any licensed child care center, or preschool facility on or after 9/1/08, shall annually receive at least one dose of influenza vaccine between September 1st and December 31st of each school year.
Please follow up with school nurse If your children has not yet received the influenza vaccination for this current school year.

Playground
Attention Parents/Guardians & Community
- Children between the ages of 2-5 can play on the playground. Students/children can not play on playground if they do not have sneakers/shoes (Flip flops, Sandals should not be worn and no bare feet on the playground). During school hours the playground cannot be used by the community. The playground is open to the community after school, weekends and holidays. Thanks for your cooperation as we are asking everyone to be safe.

The PTO Meetings take place on the dates and times listed below. All PTO meetings will be held in the Cambridge Park Board Room. There are no meetings in December or June.
