Principal's Message

Happy Fall Beckley families! Our students are well into their learning this school year and experiencing many fun activities along the way. We had a fun Harvest Festival and are looking forward to a month of being thankful for everything we have. Parent-teacher conferences are well under way and mostly completed. Teachers and parents are having great conversations getting to know each other and working out plans for the success of our students. I love that all of our students are working and learning, and I hope everyone has a wonderful winter break!

iReady Math and Reading

Did you know that every student at Beckley has an iReady account? iReady is a computer program that students use at school each week to practice their Math and Reading skills. This program adapts to each student’s level, which allows him or her to work independently. The work is never too hard or too easy. It is just right for them! If you would like your child to use iReady at home, simply login to Students will login in with their student ID number as their login and password.

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program

Our Beckley Eagles applied, and were awarded, a grant to receive fresh fruits and veggies at school. Each week students get to sample fresh fruits and veggies in their classrooms. While sometimes we sample food that we already know, like apples and oranges, other times we sample new things, like brussels sprouts and jicama. Our students have been excited to try new fruits and vegetables. Want to know what else they have tried? Ask your child about their favorite and strangest fruit or vegetable!

Wellness Day

We had our first Wellness Day in November and it was a great success. We will continue to have Wellness Days monthly. All students in each grade level go to PE all at the same time. The period will begin with a wellness mini-lesson, followed by walking, jogging or running around the field. All families and friends are invited to walk with their kids. Each lap that a student makes counts for one point, but adults count for 2!! Keep a lookout for December’s flyer and we hope to see you there!

Disney Musicals in Schools

The Smith Center proudly supports Disney Musicals in School and this year Beckley is so excited to be a part of it. Students began auditioning for the Jungle Book in September and all of the roles have been cast! Students will rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Mr. Garcia, Ms. Jolly and Ms. Tavernetti. Towards the end of the year, they’ll prepare their stage and then we will be patiently waiting for their amazing performance!
