Trailblazer Family News
November 2022
We are so excited for cooler weather! This school year has already been flying right by! I wanted to thank everyone for helping their student with their virtual learning! I know it is something that is new for all of us. Hopefully, we will all get better with practice! All virtual learning work is due by Tuesday (tomorrow) to be counted present for the school day.
We are excited for our Veteran's program this Friday at 8:30. Just a reminder that Veteran's are more than welcome to park in the back parking lot, you can enter the building from those doors. Our program will take approximately a half hour. Several of our classrooms have created items for Veteran's to take home. If you have not RSVP'd your Veteran, please let me know.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Staff PD Day on November 14- No School/ No Virtual Learning
Update from PTO:
School Devices: Ipads and Laptops
1. We have so many devices that are not coming to school charged. Please, please, please, help us with this. If you could set up a routine with your Trailblazer to ensure their device gets on the charger, it will help them be ready for their school day.
2. Many students are taking pictures of all kinds of things. There are pictures and videos that they take that use up their battery life. We have encouraged students to clean up their device camera roll. They only need to keep pictures that are used for class projects.
3. Headphones, your child needs to have headphones daily in class. We have 50 + students that are not coming to school with headphones. If you can make sure that your student has some and that they work, we would appreciate it!
Updates from Nurse Whitney:
Hello South Side Trailblazer Families!! I hope these chillier days are finding you plenty warm. As the days are becoming cooler and cooler, please remember to make sure your child is wearing a coat to school. If your child does not have a coat and you need assistance getting one, please reach out!!! I have resources and would love to assist you in making sure your child stays warm this winter.
- Side note – be sure to write your child’s name in their coat, hat and gloves. These items are misplaced often. This helps us to make sure we can locate the owners of lost coats and gloves 😊
Daylight savings time occurs in November. The change in time is always hard on all of us. Make sure your kiddos are getting plenty of rest, especially around this time. It’s hard for them to learn when their little bodies are tired. Studies report that children should get 9 to 10 hours of sleep every night.
Friendly reminders:
- Your child must be fever-free, without fever-reducing medication, for 24 hours before returning to school. The same applies to vomiting and diarrhea.
- Please send a change of clothes in your child’s backpack for those occasional accidents or spills. I will do my best to provide your child with a change of clothes, but if I do not have the appropriate size, I will have to call home and ask for a change of clothes.
- If your child has clothes that they have outgrown, I am always accepting clothing donations!! This is how I keep my “extra clothes” stocked. I am always in need of pants and underwear, sizes 6-12. Don’t worry, clothes are always washed before I give them to students 😊
Car Drop-Off and Pick- Up
Drop-Off:
1. Please stay in your car if you are in the car drop off lane in the morning. If you need to get out of the car, please park and then help your Trailblazer out of the car.
2. Students are to be in seats at 8:00. That is the last bell. Please have them dropped off in enough time to make it to class.
Pick-Up
1. Please have your CAR TAG ready for dismissal. If you need a new tag, please let us know. We will make you a new one. There are times that Mrs. Erexson, Ms. Spencer, and Mrs. Carden are not the ones to get car numbers. Your tag needs to be visible (or you can tell them your number).
