It's Not Vacation Yet

As I was tweeting out a few pictures from PJ day, I noticed a PSA (Public Science Announcement) from a middle school science teacher in Burlington (checking out my own kids' future staff) called "It's not vacation yet". In this PSA, he had taken several examples of excellent student work and was walking around his classroom telling students "I still expect top quality work - it's not vacation yet!". I thought, brilliant! This is the exact message I want to to share with parents, staff, and students next week. We have many great projects coming to fruition, units of study reaching a dramatic climax, concerts to be performed, and teachers setting the stage for new units in January. So we aren't done yet! A little reminder from home is always appreciated as well!

This week we had an excellent 7th grade concert of band, chorus, and orchestra on Thursday night. All three ensembles sounded fantastic! It is always amazing to see how much effort and hard work our students put into a performance. Last Friday and Saturday we had the performance of the middle school play The Phantom Tollbooth and I was blown away! All of the students involved dedicated so much of their time outside of school to make that performance happen! And kudos to Mr. Bell for all the great work he is doing with our drama students!

One more busy week full of rigorous projects and high expectations! Remember - it's not vacation yet, lots of work to be done! Have a great weekend!
