About the Ku Klux Klan
The KKK started after the civil war in 1866 by a group of confederate soldiers. It was created by John B. Kennedy. Their goal was to get revenge on free blacks by torturing them.
Why did the KKK start?
The point of the Ku Klux Klan was to get revenge on the blacks that recently won their freedom during the civil war. They did this by yelling racist things, robbing them, and even killing them.
What was done to blacks?
The KKK would yell racist things and rob the blacks. They would make them feel threatened and even shot at them. They didn't realize that everybody was equal no matter what their race was.
How was the Ku Klux Klan stopped?
The KKK is still around today but there is very few. In the 1940's the police improved which helped stop them. Also Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. helped stop them with his motivational speech.
