A Message from Principal Bame

Dear Laurel Park Families,

Last Tuesday, we enjoyed an excellent turnout for our Science Fair Family Night. Our community came to support our young scientists in a way that exceeded our expectations. Next year, we will have to consider a larger space!

Let's keep up this amazing momentum by joining us for these upcoming events:

  • Book Fair, March 1st - 15th
  • STEAM Night, March 9th
  • Rising Kindergarten Parent Orientation, May 9th
  • PTA Family Fun Night (Date, TBA)

This is a great time to complete the WCPSS volunteer clearance process, if you have not done so already.

As a friendly reminder:

  • This is a great time to remind students to silence wearable technology and phones during the school day. All technology should be on airplane mode or turned off during school hours (9:15 am - 3:45 pm)
  • Please send your child (no matter what grade) to school with an extra set of clothes, in case they need it during the day.
  • We expect our students will deal with colds and viral infections throughout the winter months. Please review the WCPSS return to school policies.
  • Please make sure to send your child to school with a healthy snack every day. Teachers also welcome snack donations for those who may forget to bring snack.
  • All clothing and personal items should be labeled with your child's first and last names.

As always, we appreciate your partnership and support!

Mrs. Raleigh Bame, Principal

STEAM Night is Coming - Help Needed!

Dear Parents,

STEAM Night is on March 9, 2023 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. STEAM Night is designed to celebrate and inspire students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Our goal is to provide an array of hands-on-activities and demonstrations for students and their families to explore, engage in, and learn from.

We’re looking for individuals/groups/businesses to provide activities to showcase STEAM related jobs during STEAM Night. These activities should be interactive and if possible, hands-on.

If you’re interested in coming out that night and sharing your knowledge and expertise, please let me know by email ttrent@wcpss.net. Please fill out this form to tell us more about how you would like to participate: https://bit.ly/lpessteam2023. Please let us know as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Laurel Park Elementary MTAC Committee

The Book Fair is coming in March! We are so excited to be able to have an in person book fair again! Being in person also takes a bit of help, so please keep an eye out for volunteer signups and make sure that you have been cleared to volunteer by the front office.
