Every student WILL earn a percentage grade based on assignments and assessments which WILL affect their GPA. One week left of first semester, work hard and study for the greatest end result. Letter from the Superintendent
December 10, 2020
Dear Godwin Heights Middle School and High School Parents/Guardians,
We have recently been informed of an alarming and dangerous internet scam that is taking place in nearby counties and school districts that is important for you to be aware of. The scam involves an unidentified person sending unmarked Google Meet invitations to students in West Michigan. The scheme appears to be focused on boys, but we want to make sure ALL students are aware.
We are being told that students who click on the unmarked Google Meet are being exposed to a person posing as a younger person who will use nudity to try and solicit an exchange of sexual texts or photographs from the student. If the student follows the directions and exposes themselves, the virtual meeting is recorded and the people responsible for the scam use the video as an attempt to blackmail the student and their families for money to not release the video.
It sickens us to know that this is happening in West Michigan and has impacted students in local school districts. We want to make sure that our students in Godwin Heights are aware of this so we can protect them from potential danger. The Wyoming Police Department is aware of this scam as well so they can partner with us if needed.
We ask that you discuss the content of this letter with your student(s) and remind them:
Never enter an unidentified virtual meeting (Google Meet or Zoom).
Only attend Google Meets sent out by their teacher or staff member who is using their Godwin email account.
Students should never, for any reason, expose themselves on camera.
If a student receives a suspicious email or invite, report it to parents/guardians and the school.
Students should not use their Godwin email accounts for any non-academic purposes (especially to sign into accounts for entertainment purposes).
Never share passwords to their Godwin email or any social media accounts.
We continue to take steps to protect our students at Godwin Heights Public Schools. Below are some of the many ways we are working to keep our students safe online:
Only individuals with a Godwin email account are able to access Google Meets that are used within Godwin schools. If a person does not have a Godwin email account, the host of the meeting must allow them to enter the meeting. This enables us to know who is in each virtual meeting.
Internet filters alert administration to potentially dangerous activity associated with Godwin email accounts.

Please help us keep our students safe and informed by talking to them today! If you have any questions or information about this information, please reach out to your school principal or myself at the administration building, 252-2090.
Sincerely,
Bill Fetterhoff

Here are the ways that you can get your name into the drawing!
For every OW course you are in, you will get your name in for:
* Meeting your target goal for the week OR making 10% progress/week
* For every 2% over the 10% progress you make, your name will be entered again for the drawing every week.
* This means that if you have 6 classes in OW, you could get your name entered at least 6 times/week!
So, don't delay- get going on those OW classes!
