Lo-Ellen Park Secondary's News Update: Nov 9 - Nov 13
A Message from Principal Potvin
Hello, Bonjour, Anii,
Every fall we host our Knights Scholar Awards Ceremony to acknowledge the excellence in achievement of the past year. This year, the ceremony in the gymnasium is not possible, however, this pandemic will not stop us from celebrating the efforts and accomplishments of our students in grades 10, 11 and 12 who experienced outstanding academic success last year! Students will be receiving their awards in their homerooms on Monday November 16, 2020.
On behalf of the entire staff at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School I wish our students continued success in their studies this year and implore them to continue to work hard in everything that they do!

Mr. Conrad
Mr. Conrad became a Knight in February 2020! We are thrilled to have him as part of our faculty. Here is a little about Mr. C:
"My main hobbies are playing board games and listening to heavy metal music.
I'm teaching two grade 11 Physics university level classes and one grade 12 Advanced Functions class.
Math and Physics are great as you are usually working towards one correct answer. There is always an adrenaline rush when you get to that answer and know you were able to get it right. Physics links your mathematical abilities to real world scenarios and helps to explain how everything in the universe works from the most basic of motion to quantum atomic theory, which is amazing."
Learning in the Great Outdoors
Ms. Connor had the same idea. Her Grade 9 French class took advantage of the new outdoor classroom this week. They were working on their research project on the regions of France.
We Remember
Thank you to Mr. Frank, members of the Student Council, our musicians, and our intermediate readers for organizing a virtual Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11th. Many classes added lessons, guest speakers and art projects to commemorate our veterans as well. Here are few examples:
Ms. Boudreau spent a few days discussing the importance of the poppy with our ISP students. They discussed how it was a symbol of Remembrance Day and how Legions play an important part in our own community. The class did some fun poppy art. This was a mixed media picture using markers, paint and construction paper. The finished pieces are beautiful.
In Mme. Vezina's class, students had to research a Canadian veteran or a family member and share their stories with the class in an artful way. Each cube has a special story to tell.
This project was inspired by an artist named ThankyouX.
