Student Services Updates, Fall 2019

Tiered Focused Monitoring - Results are In!

During the 2018-2019 school year, Watertown Public Schools participated in the Department of Education Tiered Focused Monitoring onsite visit, looking at Special Education compliance and student outcomes. Feedback from the TFM process was shared just before the start of school in September. Overall we are very pleased with the results, which reflect the hard work and attention to detail of all of our WPS teachers and service providers! Our rate of compliance has improved significantly from prior DESE reviews. Our goal is 100% compliance, and towards that end, we will be engaged in Continuous Improvement Monitoring Planning and action steps in collaboration with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education throughout the 2019-2020 school year. The TFM summary from DESE will be discussed at the upcoming School Committee on October 7, 2019. You are encouraged to attend or watch on live-stream that evening to recognize the accomplishments of the WPS Special Education faculty.

Coming this fall...

The Student Services Department wants to hear from you! Beginning in October, we will survey parents/ guardians following IEP Team meetings and welcome your feedback regarding your experiences in the IEP process. You will have an option to reply anonymously or to share your contact information. We look forward to continuing to partner with parents/ guardians in supporting all students.
