WORDS FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
November is a month of gratitude and we have so much to be grateful for. Our school is located in a wonderful community with supportive people who do things to lighten our loads. Some examples include when our PTA provided us with a delicious dinner during SEP conferences, we also received a surprise delivery of enough Crumbl cookies for all faculty and staff, and we have had people change plans so they could sub for us when we were in dire need. These are just a few of the nice things that happen on a daily basis. Thank you!
We wish you could all see in person the Veteran’s Wall that Eva Harris has made to display in our school. We will have a video of it soon to share so all can enjoy it. We are so grateful for the veterans who have sacrificed so we can live in a free country. We wish you all a fantastic week and month of thankfulness.

REPORT CARDS
You can find them on myDSD.
This has been a good week at Heritage. We have had no positive cases due to school exposure! If you have kept up with recommendations from the governor, a lot of cases in our state are due to extended family and neighborhood gatherings. We have been lucky to keep our numbers so low.
Our students have been so good at wearing masks. Please remember to put a back-up mask in their backpack. As a family probably one of the things you can do, is to not discuss the complications of COVID with your young students. As I meet with your kids, I’m noticing more young children with stress related to COVID. They are tearful and fearful that they may have it. One young guy this week didn’t want me to fill up his water bottle, because he was worried that I might get COVID from him. That is a heavy burden to carry!

Clarification-
During this week's board meeting, Assistant Superintendent John Zurbuchen made some clarifications to the board.
1. The data on the dashboard is compiled by the health department and totaled on Saturday night. The Health Department then releases it to the district and the district puts the information on the COVID dashboard sometime on Monday (depending on when they get it from the Health Department).
2. If you get a letter from Heritage or another school the case count in that letter is accurate as of that day and may be different than the dashboard. The number reflected in the school positive case letter will not reflect the positive cases on the dashboard as that number changes each day due to new positive cases and those that are resolved after 14 days.
- The illness prevents your student from participating comfortably in activities
- The illness results in a greater need for care than the staff can provide
- The student has any of the following conditions, unless a health professional determines the student’s condition does not require staying home from school
