The Brachiosaurus
Researched by Lilyann Wangerin
Brachiosaurus Description
- Weighed about 70 tons
- 70 feet long
- Stood 39 feet off the ground which is as tall as a 4 story building and twice as tall as an adult giraffe
- Nostrils were on top of the head
Period Brachiosaurus Lived In
- Lived in the Late Jurassic Period
- Also lived in the Early Cretaceous Period
- Diplodocus and Apatosaurus also lived in the Late Jurassic period.
Brachiosaurus's Diet
- Ate plants or was a herbivore.
- Ate up to 400 kilograms or 880 pounds of plants everyday
- Plants were coniferous trees, gingkoes and cycads
Brachiosaurus's Habitat
- Lived 155.7 million to 150.8 million years ago in what is now Africa and North America
- Also lived in woodlands of Europe and North Africa
- Weather was semiarid with few wet seasons
Lifespan of Brachiosaurus
- Unknown lifespan of the Brachiosaurus
- Lived from Late Jurassic Period to the Early Cretaceous Period
- Lived 155.7 million to 150.8 million years ago
Dinossaurs like the Brachiosaurus
- Ultrasaurus may be just a large Brachiosaurus
- Seismosaurus and Supersaurus are like Brachiosaurus
- Diplodocus and Apatosaurus are like Brachiosaurus

Theories of Dinosaurs Being Extincted
- Nobody knows why and how they became extnicted
- Three most popular theories are Asteroid Theory, Volcanic Theory, and Ice Age
- The Earth may have changed the weather dinosaurs weren't able to adapt to the cooler, dryer weather
Ice Age?
- Some think it was a severe Ice Age
- Dinosaurs wouldn't be able to survive
- that is what some think how dinosaurs became extincted
Meteor
- This is the most popular theory
- According to the theory a meteor hit earth about 65 million years ago
- Would throw so much dirt that it would block the sunlight
- Plants and animals would die from the dramatic change in climate
- The results would be to much for the dinosaurs, they weren't able to survive
Volcano
- Last theory to talk about is the Volcanic Activity theory
- Volcano may have erupted and sent out a huge amount of ash and lava (or magma) around 65 million years ago
- Could have pumped so much ash and magma that it blocked the sun causing the dinosaurs to die
My Ideas About Extinction
- I agree with the Volcanic Activity theory.
- A volcano erupted and spewed lava everywhere
- Lava covered everything including the dinosaurs
- Dinosaurs wouldn't be able to survive with the lava over them
Recommendations
- Research something
- Research something else or research about the Brachiosaurus
- May even find some information that I didn't find
- Remember this information, it will be very helpful in the future
