What are these "school visits" showing up in the WAG? What does future-ready mean?
I've had several recent conversations with staff asking about the innovation school visits that I have been attending around the metro area. I've also had questions such as, "What do they mean by future-ready? What can I share with parents, when they ask? What will this look like for LSR7?"
The word INNOVATION excites some and panics others; mainly because of the unknown. Every.single.time I've been in an innovative environment, I wish that I could take you all with me. Live exposure is the best form of learning! Although, I do think it is important that I share what I've been learning about, when I'm not with you! Therefore, I put together a little chart of the schools that I have visited, over the past couple of years, alongside Dr. Kephart and other building administrators. This may give you some insight to what is "out there". Again, this is not to cause confusion or assumptions that this is exactly what is coming for LSR7. We don't know that yet...one step at a time toward being future-ready! This is truly a glimpse into what I'm learning and how to best fill you in; in case you want to explore more on your own! -----> Click Here

*Space Heaters: Administrators were made aware of Lee's Summit City Ordinance Code on space heaters. We can still use space heaters in classrooms. Just a couple of items to be aware of: Needs to have UL listed tag, Must be cool to the touch, Needs to be anti-tip resistant, needs to plug directly into the wall, should not be left "on" throughout the day, night, weekend, using a timer. Please let Greg know if you have any questions.
*Celebrating APR: DESE released its annual APR report. LSR7 achieved its highest rating at 99.3%. Nice job, everyone! The KCMO school district is on its way to achieving accreditation status which is great news for our colleagues.
