Parkway high school students accounted for 11 of the 24 Missouri All-State Choir slots during the St. Louis All-Suburban Choir performance this past month.
In addition, Parkway students accounted for 68 members of the mixed honor choir and 13 in the treble choir.
Excellence in teaching
Three Parkway teachers have been selected as winners of the 2021 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award -- Erica Kirn, Bellerive Elementary; Leigh Klawiter, West Middle; Amie Gossett, West High. Klawiter is a school counselor, Gossett teaches theatre and Kirn is a third-grade teacher.
Kirn, Klawiter and Gossett and are among more than 80 teachers from across the St. Louis metropolitan area who are being recognized as examples of truly outstanding educational excellence.

The program, sponsored by the Parkway Alumni Association, awards grants of money or resources to Parkway K-12 students who want to pursue extracurricular learning. Students often apply for assistance to attend camps and classes, to purchase materials or to land a job shadowing opportunity.
Parkway recognized by United States Tennis Association
The United States Tennis Association awarded Parkway the 2021 St. Louis District Member Organization of the Year.
The award recognizes Parkway for support and success of junior programs, providing tennis courts for USTA St. Louis Adult Leagues and our community outreach promoting the sport of tennis with free use of facilities.
Deputy superintendent announces retirement
Parkway Deputy Superintendent, Chelsea Watson, has announced her plans to retire, effective June 30, 2022.
Watson is a lifelong Parkway student, alumna and educator. Watson has been the deputy superintendent of Parkway since 2017. Prior to that, she was assistant superintendent of student services for five years. Before that, she was at Southwest Middle School for 16 years, 10 of which was as the head principal. Watson started her educational career in 1992 as a teacher at Wren Hollow Elementary.
During her nearly 30 years in Parkway, Watson has demonstrated a consistent commitment to Parkway’s mission and goals. She created a student services department that enhanced character education, led the strategic and long-term planning of Project Parkway and developed and supported strong leadership skills in our school principals.
Parkway School Board candidate filing begins Dec. 7
Two director positions are open on the Parkway Board of Education, each for a three-year term, in the April 5, 2022 election. The terms of Pam Hill and Sam Sciortino expire in April 2022. Interested and qualified persons may file in person at the Parkway Administrative Center, 455 N. Woods Mill Rd., Chesterfield, MO, 63017.
Filing begins on December 7, 2021, at 8:00 a.m. and will continue during regular business hours Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through December 28. Appointments to file are encouraged but not required. Filing will not occur when the district offices are closed on Friday, December 24 and Monday, December 27.
Apply to serve on the Special School District Board of Education
The Special School District has an open seat on the Board of Education for Subdistrict 3 representing Parkway. Candidate filing for the open seat opens at 8 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, and continues until 5 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. The term of current Board member Ms. Katie Pottroff, Subdistrict 3 expires in March 2022.

Winter break
The last day of school before winter break, Wednesday, December 22, is a half day for all students. See dismissal times here.
All Parkway district offices will be closed to visitors from December 24, 2021 through January 1, 2022.
Parents, students or staff needing transcripts, student records, technology support, registration services or human resources should contact us before December 24 or after January 1.
Parkway attendance boundary update
Last month, the Parkway Board of Education unanimously approved the boundary change proposal to address space and capacity issues at West and South middle schools.
The following schools will be impacted: West Middle, South Middle, Southwest Middle, and Pierremont and Hanna Woods elementary schools. This change impacts middle school student attendance beginning with the 2022-23 school year.
Mental health night
Elizabeth Makulec of Kids Under Twenty One will present on self-harm. She will talk about when emotional pain becomes physical: recognizing and talking about self-injury.
