About Eli Whitney
Eli Whitney was the inventor of the Cotton Gin. This was one of the key inventions of the Industrial Revolution & shaped the economy of Antebellum South. He was born in Westborough Massachusetts , on December 8th, 1765. He died on January 8, 1725, in New Haven Connecticut. He also pushed the "interchangeable parts" mode of production.With a potential war with France on the horizon, the government looked to private contractors to supply firearms. Whitney promised to manufacture 10,000 rifles within a two-year period of time, and the government accepted his bid in 1798.
