Follow-Up: Literacy Night and Get Caught Reading
We understand that other events conflicted with Literacy Night and we don't want those students and families to miss out on the resources we shared. Next Friday, every student who was not able to attend will come home with the resources shared, including their grade levels make and take reading strategy for parents.
To continue our efforts of showing students the fun and importance of reading we are launching our Get Caught Reading initiative for the remainder of the year.
To participate we are asking parents to take candid pictures of themselves and their children while reading. You can take a selfie or sneak up on your child while they read at night. Please share your photos with us via Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #IESGCR.

1st Grade Musical: E-I-E-I-Oops!
Please join our 1st graders as they perform E-I-E-I-Oops! on Tuesday, March 1st. Each child is participating in a special way and it is very important for each of them to be here for their big day.
Performances will be at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (following PTA meeting)
Costumes will be made by the students during their art class. However, if you could have them wear jeans and the appropriate solid color shirt (see below) it will enhance the program.
Mrs. Stachelski & Mrs. Hayes: Sheep- wear WHITE shirts
Mrs. Feemster & Mrs. Browder: PIGS- wear PINK or BROWN shirts
Mrs. Stobaugh’s class splits up for co-curr and comes on different days. Your child should know which class they come with.
If not, please e-mail me!
*All girls have the option to be a chick. If your 1st grade girl would like to be a chick, she should wear a YELLOW shirt.
Ms. Taylor is looking for first grade parent volunteers to help decorate the stage. If you are available to help enhance our musical by creating and designing our set, please e-mail Ms. Taylor for more information!
Thank you!

French Fry Free February
As another effort to learn the importance of developing healthy eating habits, for the Month of February, I am challenging IES students and their families to choose fruits and vegetables with their meals instead of french fries. Many families lead busy schedules and stop at fast food restaurants for meals. It is great to see that fast food restaurants are starting to offer healthier sides. Just like the No Soda November Challenge, just keep track of the number of days they do not eat french fries. It will be okay for the students to choose french fries or smiley fries at school if they buy their lunch. By March 3, there will be three ways to let me know how many days they did not each french fries. You can send a note with your child, email me, or use a link to a google form. Your teacher will email you the link the last week of February.
