What Is Autism And How Does It Affect The Body?
- Autism is a mental condition present from early childhood. Characterized by difficulty in communicating. Also, forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts. People with autism may also walk on there tiptoes. Also, they will rock back and forth but not notice that they are.
How Is This Related To Me Or Why Did I Choose It?
The reason that I wanted to do this is because on of my family members has autism. So, I want to learn more about it. Plus, I might learn something to help this person in my family. In addiction, I thought that it would be nice to know if someone young in my family would get it i would be prepared. Sense i want to babysit I want to know how to take care of someone with autism.
What Causes Autism?
"Right now, doctors and researchers don't fully understand what causes autism. Scientists believe it has something to do with genes and environmental factors. New research has found that people are more likely to have a spectrum disorder if someone else in their family has one. But this doesn't necessarily mean that autism is passed down from parents to children. And autism definitely isn't contagious — you can't catch it from someone else."(1)

- Hard to make friends
- Separation anxiety
- Communicating verbally and non-verbally

- Thinking and behaving flexibly
Treatments Of Autism
"Intervention can involve behavioral treatments, medicines or both. Many persons with autism have additional medical conditions such as sleep disturbance, seizures and gastrointestinal (GI) distress. Addressing these conditions can improve attention, learning and related behaviors. "

- Children who are born underweight or premature may have a higher risk for autism.
- Researchers have noted that infants who had early accelerated head growth were at risk for autism.
