Here's What's Happening at Milan Elementary School
March Students of the Month are Good Citizens
During the month of March, teachers were watching for students that exemplify what it means to be a “Good Citizen” at Milan Elementary; those who respect others and their property, are helpful and considerate, and work hard every day to make our school a better place.

Robinson Lloyd, Jacob Roell.
First Grade: Dakota Huff, Morgan Hall, Carson Ellis, Bryce Blackburn.

Making Strides Against Cancer Walk - May 11, 2017
From time to time, this monster hits especially close to home and attacks a student, a staff member, or an extended family member. When a crisis like this arises, we have chosen to dedicate the walk and proceeds to that person to help with travel costs and other expenses. An especially memorable walk was the one several years ago dedicated to School Nurse Denise Roark who sadly lost her battle with ovarian cancer. Other staff members and a student had happier outcomes but will forever be on guard until a cure is found.
This year we are dedicating our efforts to Aiden Pyles, four-year-old grandson of MES Staff Member Lisa Marksberry. Aiden has been battling cancer in the form of leukemia for most of his life. It has taken a physical and financial toll on Aiden and his family and we'd like to help as much as we possibly can by honoring him and celebrating his bravery in this battle.
Information and permission slips are being sent home with all students in grades 1-5 on Thursday, April 27. If you and your child would like to help, simply sign and return the permission slip by May 2. Your child will then bring home an envelope to collect pledges for their walk. Pledge envelopes are due back by May 9 in time to be tallied for the walk on May 11. Only students who return pledge envelopes may participate in the walk.
LET'S ALL JOIN IN TO "WALK ALL OVER" CANCER!
Making Strides is more than just walking; many fun activities are included.

Kindergarten Registration
On April 6th, Milan Elementary held registration for students who will begin Kindergarten in the fall. If you have a child who will be five by August 1 and missed this registration date, we urge you to contact the school at 654-2922 to set up an appointment.
Please do not feel that you have to wait for a birth certificate and/or immunization record. You have until school starts to produce these documents. It is very important that we at least get your child registered and complete the screening process before August so we can order enough supplies and set up class rosters. Thanks!
