The Mustang Stampede
Third Grade news for the month of April
We will continue our review of all the learning we have done so far this school year in preparation for the STAAR Math test on April 23.
Please take a moment to look at our district curriculum calendar to see what skills your child is working on at any time during the year: https://sites.google.com/a/csisd.org/csisd-k-12-math-curriculum-parents/home/third-grade
Grading: This has been explained to your student several times, but you should also know that all assignments that contain word problems contain the requirement that students show their work. If a child does not show their work, he/she will not receive full credit for the problem, even if the answer marked is correct. We have had this requirement in place for most of the school year. If you have any questions about grading policy or a question on a specific assignment, please do not hesitate to contact me. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.
We have had some very interesting guest scientists visit recently. Mrs. Dictson shared her knowledge on water conservation. Dr. Klein discussed plant parts and adaptations. The students have enjoyed the variety and been inspired by their work.
Reading / Language Arts
Spelling: None until after state testing
LA: We are finishing up our study of poetry by completing our poetry anthologies. We will soon begin working on writing fictional stories.
We will be learning about World Community Celebrations and Customs (St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Cinco De Mayo, etc.)
