Principal's Message

Greetings Carver Middle School Community!

Thank you all very much for a fantastic start to the 2019-2020 school year! We have another busy week ahead of us. Chromebooks distribution is Tuesday and tryouts for Fall sports begin tomorrow. Please make sure that your students' fees are paid and his/her mobile usage agreement has been completed and turned in for your student to receive a chromebook. Students in the seventh and eighth grades should bring their chromebook chargers to school Tuesday as they are expected to keep their chargers from year to year. Students in need of a replacement charger will be charged a $25 fee.

Please remind students to bring concussion and physical forms to the first day of tryouts for Fall sports.

We have a few key events scheduled for September. Our first Principal's Chat of 2019 is scheduled for September 16 from 6-8. This event will feature a PTA meeting followed by a Town Hall style discussion and breakout sessions featuring our special programs. Our back to school night is scheduled from 6-8. This will provide parents an opportunity to speak with teachers and administrators, join the PTA and purchase Carver Middle school gear.

Thank you very much for your support and have a great week!

Anthony J. McLaurin, Ed.D.

Beginning Orchestra for 6th Grade Students

"Great News! If your student has ever had any interest in learning a stringed instrument, this is their lucky day. Carver's beginning Orchestra class has a few spots left! There is no experience necessary. If interested, please contact Carver's counseling department."

Message from Nurse Natalie

Hello Carver Cougars-

I am super excited to be returning to the Carver Family as your school nurse for the 2019-2020 school year! Some of you with older children may remember me as I was the nurse at Carver from the 2012-2016. For the last 3 years I have been serving Falling Creek middle school.

As a friendly reminder, please if your student has a health condition such as a life threatening allergy, asthma, seizures, diabetes or any other condition that may require care during the school day you must provide the clinic with an up to date health service plan for your student. Each school year a new plan is needed. Copies of health plans can be found on the CCPS website via the family> health and safety > forms link

Also, don’t forget to check with your doctor about immunizations such as the TDAP that are now required by the VA state law for all 7th graders. This is a change from previous years.

I look forward to getting to know many of you and your children this school year! As your school nurse, it is my privilege to support and advocate for our students, staff and families! I want every student to have the opportunity to be safe, healthy and ready to learn!

Please let me know how I can help you or your student!

Be well,

Nurse Natalie
