Question #2: What Do We Have Going for Us?
- Our exchange students are highly motivated to learn English and to succeed in high school. They tend to have a strong educational background in their first language, a trait that is a huge asset in learning English. We also have a small population of English language learners (ELLs) that allows us to focus on their needs as individuals.
- Our students' families are willing to go to tremendous lengths to help their children succeed here (tutoring, etc.). While they are physically distant, they have access to technology that allows them to be in communication with their children and with us. Our students' host families are also nearby and incredibly supportive of their students.
- We have hard-working, caring faculty who are willing to do whatever it takes to help our students. We are continual learners and adapt to our students.
- Our student body is friendly toward newcomers and interested in learning about other cultures.
- Our curriculum and programs are varied and effective. Our college admissions rates are strong, our courses are rigorous, and technology allows us to differentiate for abilities and interests. The ASPIRE team has established effective protocols for parent partnerships and for classroom accommodations. Our extracurricular activities provide opportunities for students to develop skills and relationships outside the classroom.
