July 8, 2020
It's only July 8th, and so far this summer we have already:
- Placed our textbook orders - including a new K-2 reading series and new middle school vocabulary program!
- Tested out hybrid learning strategies
- Written and revised the first draft of our Reopening Plan - a huge accomplishment!
- Started several maintenance tasks around the school - including painting the lockers!
This is only possible because of your continued dedication to & support of our school and its mission. While reopening this fall will undoubtedly present a myriad of challenges, I'm grateful to be facing these challenges with each of you.
Speaking of dedication, our Fall Preparedness Team has been hard at work revising our reopening plan. With this in mind, I would like to tentatively set Tuesday, July 21st as the date for a staff-wide Zoom meeting to discuss the reopening plan before its release to families. The meeting will most likely be held in the evening. I understand that not everyone will be available for the meeting, and I am happy to meet with you at another date/time if it is not possible for your to attend on the 21st. More information will be provided in the weeks ahead.
Oftentimes in the past, the weekly Faculty FYI included suggested readings/articles for perusal at your leisure. This week's edition restarts that tradition, with some selected slides from a recent presentation on blended learning by Michael Miele at the Highlander Institute. While not everything in the presentation (attached below) is directly applicable to our school or your classroom, it presents some interesting ideas to consider as we prepare for what will be an academic year unlike any before it. I hope you find these slides helpful!
Finally, please note that I will be out of the office starting tomorrow, July 9th. While Baby Peloquin has decided to take her time, Grace is scheduled to be induced tomorrow. Your continued prayers and well-wishes are greatly appreciated, and I will keep everyone updated with baby's arrival!
Wishing you all an enjoyable remainder of the week!
