Week of August 26, 2019
Thanks for a great first week!!!
Need to Knows:
- Remember that Learning Targets should be posted in your room and understood by your students
- Treatment Agreements should be completed and posted by Wednesday, Aug. 28
- Attendance must be taken within a 5 minute span of 9:45. If you have not posted by 9:50, a report is generated and sent to Christy. You will be contacted by the office. Our goal is to reach 100% everyday!!!
- Getting to Know You Employee Information forms were sent out by Angie. Please complete by Wednesday.
- Recess monitoring is vital to safety and fun on the playground. Please make sure the teachers are located in critical areas and not standing together.
- Please refrain from taking pictures of students for discipline purposes. This is a FERPA issue and now opens your phone to Opens Records requests.

Celebrate Freedom Week
Celebrate Freedom Week - Grade 3 thru 12
Celebrate Freedom Week and Constitution Day are coming up soon and I wanted to send out a reminder and tools you may want to use for that week of instruction. Celebrate Freedom Week is observed annually during the week of September 17 and is required Social Studies instruction for Grades 3-12. Teachers will be sent an informational newsletter with other details and resources to use for Celebrate Freedom Week and Constitution Day.
Please remember that Celebrate Freedom Week is observed annually during the week of September 17 and is required Social Studies instruction for Grades 3-12 .
On Tuesday, September 17 Burleson ISD will celebrate Constitution Day and the beginning of Celebrate Freedom Week. On Constitution Day, a portion of the class period should be given to the study and understanding of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
On any day of Celebrate Freedom Week, students are to recite and learn about the preamble of the Declaration of Independence:
We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness--That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed.
On the other days of that week for a portion of each period, students will learn about the US Constitution as it relates to women's suffrage, the abolitionist movement, the American Revolution, the Emancipation Proclamation and America's rich heritage as a nation of immigrants.
Introduction to the Handbooks of Standards 2.0
Grant Opportunity for Teachers
The North Texas Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments has a wonderful grant opportunity for teachers in the North Texas region.
The ‘Fund-Your-Project’ Award is geared toward teachers across all disciplines who are looking to make a difference in their classroom and/or community. The premise is simple, teachers are to submit a 4 minute video using the attached guidelines to explain the benefits of their proposed project. Their submissions will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges and Funding Awards will be distributed to the winning proposals at our December Awards Ceremony.
