Fundraiser to Begin - Toccoa Coffee
The PTO is proud to offer a new fundraiser this year! Toccoa Coffee, located in the same neighborhood as Elsie Rogers, will begin on October 10 and run through October 25. Product pick up will be November 11. Toccoa Coffee will be offering 10 oz bags of coffee in regular and decaf options in both beans and grounds for $10.00. We are excited that 40% of sales will be returned to Elsie Rogers!! Profits made come directly back to Elsie Rogers to help fund projects and activities that your children participate in throughout the school year! This coffee will be great for gifts or to serve on upcoming holidays. Even after the fundraiser is completed, you can order online from Toccoa Coffee as the Elsie Rogers will still get a kickback! This year we will be adding a little friendly competition between grade levels. We will hold classroom competitions in the amount of dollars sold. K-2 will compete against each other and 3-5 will compete against each other. The winning class in each group will earn a Popsicle party and extra recess. Please consider supporting our school fundraiser this year!
It is that time of year again. Teachers are anxious to meet with you personally to discuss how your child is progressing this school year. Conference dates are scheduled for October 25 & October 26. We encourage you to set aside this special time. Please look for an invitation in the near future for your designated day and time.

School Messenger
Penn-Harris-Madison utilizes the School Messenger® alert notification service to distribute emergency messages, such as school closings, delays and student attendance (for unexcused absences).
School Messenger’s InfoCenter (infocenter.schoolmessenger.com) is the new parent/guardian portal which will allow you to set the preferences of how you want to receive these important notifications. Families with students in different schools will have all matching records linked to their accounts.
You must have an email address on file with the school in order to utilize SchoolMessenger InfoCenter. If you do not, please contact the school to provide one. You will utilize this email address to create an account and login into InfoCenter. If you are providing a new email address or updating your email address with the school (Monday-Friday), please wait until the following day to logon on to infocenter.schoolmessenger.com to create your account. If you have any problems after providing your email address, please contact the school office.
InfoCenter accounts are set up with the corresponding parent/guardian email addresses on file. If the school has only one email address on file, parents/guardians will share one account. If individual parents/guardians wish to have accounts set up separately, they must provide separate email addresses. This will allow each parent/guardian to have their own InfoCenter account and set up their own preferences for their contact information. There can only be one email address per parent/guardian.
If you wish to change your contact phone numbers listed in InfoCenter, you must contact the school. You will not see the reflective change until the following business day. At that point you can update your preferences.
The preference configurations within SchoolMessenger InfoCenter allow you to set your consent state to also receive text messages and emails. At least one phone number must be selected for Non-school Hours Emergency, School Hours Emergency and Attendance. These classify as emergencies and therefore you cannot opt to only receive these emergency notifications via text or email. Please disregard the Survey box under the preference configurations. The District will not be using this feature at this time.
Please visit infocenter.schoolmessenger.com today to create an account and set up your preferences.
You can also manage your account by downloading the SchoolMessenger InfoCenter App from the App Store and Google Play.
Why 20 Minutes a Day of Reading is Important!
High Ability Identification
In accordance with the Indiana high ability law, we are required to have an identification process in place to identify students of high ability in the general intellectual and specific academic domains. We identify students who have high ability in language arts and/or math.
Every kindergartner, second and fifth grader who has not been previously identified in a subject area is considered for high ability identification.
Testing for the high ability identification process will begin in December.
Learn more about our identification procedures by visiting our high ability website at https://www.phmschools.org/saturday-enrichment-and-high-ability-programs.
